I’m loving my power wagon. While it doesn’t need more power. I’m getting the bug to play with it. I’m just not finding much info on these motors. Lots on the 392. Not much on these. There’s a procharger kit but I can’t find many personal references from people that have it. I’m putting together a decent budget but can anyone point me in the right direction or is the 6.4 just not worth messing with?

Install a catback, drop in a performance filter in the stock air box, and call it day.

Check out Moes performance. You can go with ARH longtubes, SRT cams (great MDS delete), performance heads, new manifold, ported throttle body, pro-charger, ect...there are tons you can do to this truck. I would look into hemi fever or HP tuners for tuning. Also if get fed up with the drone, the Borla S-Type cat back exhaust (Part #140801BC) has ZERO drone if you wanted to switch it up.

I have the procharger with ARH 1 3/4 longtubes with cats and a magnaflow #12578 muffler and still using the stock resonator and no drone at all. The Procharger is a massive HP upgrade from stock oem.

Sorry to hijack the thread, would you mind posting the details of your pro-charger? I may end up pulling the trigger on one this winter.

Talk to us about the pro charger please. How many miles? Any issues with the tune? Anything else worth mentioning

I'm going to do review of everything after my final tuning and dyno. I never used the canned tune from procharger.

I have tuned a few trucks that had installed the "canned" ProCharger tune. The owners were expecting to go out and make big power like the ad and website says but the tunes that I had were not even in the ballpark. One was dangerously lean and the other 3 were so rich that they kept fouling the plugs so bad the trucks were undrivable. The truck that was uber lean idled at 13.8 AFR but as soon as the throttle was touched it would bounce between 14.9 - 15.7 AFR under power.

One of the trucks that was rich idled at 12.0 AFR and fouled the plugs while cranking. The only thing I can say is these were isolated incidents and if you do go the route of a ProCharger please have a dyno appointment set up for some real tuning before you get crazy with the loud pedal.

Besides the procharger being installed do you know if all three of the trucks completely stock oem in all other areas? (just curious)
I knew from the start i was doing headers/exhaust along with a pulley change.
Prochargers HO full kit is designed for a complete oem truck. I knew someone who had issues with their canned tune and its because they started with a upgraded engine.

That’s what’s keeping me from a supercharger. It’s not huge power and you gotta mess with tuning to get it right. Not a lot of people get it right

Since you don't have one i can assure you that you are wrong in those statements. Prochargers/Superchargers make extreme amounts of power.! Tuning is Tuning I wouldn't go as far as saying you gotta mess with procharger tuning more then a lets say a basic cam, injectors & headers they both require a capable tuner. In both cases you have tuners not getting them right.!

You are correct I misspoke. I’m sure they are capable of big power. On the 6.4 with 6 pounds of boost is more what I meant. Not a lot of reliable tuners in my area and I don’t know anyone personally that has had a good experience with tuning. I’m sure they’re out there.
What I just don’t want happening is you dump a money on it and it ain’t usable with canned tunes

That is the case when when doing performance mods. You may be better off getting into a TRX, or get on list for a Hennessy TRX. They're in the 6 figure range for all that power though. What was it Colby wrote in Apocalypse Now, "Sell the house, sell the car, sell the kids. . . ."

After watching lots of exhaust videos, I concluded that they all have more drone than I’d like when driving around in the neighborhood, with the family, and listening to my nice stereo. They also were too mild sounding to me usually. I got a badlanz exhaust cutout. It’s as loud as the exhaust deletes available when I want (which is most of the time) and quiet as stock when I want. Ram should add this from the factory on the PW just like the TRX and 392 Jeep.

Mufflex does an muffler that's supposed to give the nice growl under load but be mellow and not drone otherwise. Its sitting in a box in my garage, to be installed this week or next. I'll let you know if it hits that sweet spot. I have a throttle body on the way from Moe's as well.

I have an S&B intake that I immediately heard and felt a difference from. The stock box that sends the air flow through a loop first wasn't doing it any favors.

Those 3 items together - intake, muffler, and throttle body. None require tuning. They just let it breathe better. And with all three combined for roughly $1,100 i would argue probably the best bang for the buck.
