Description of my truck in my sig. Basically a Zone 6" lift, 5" in front with 3" coils in the back. I have 3:92 gearing. I'm keepng my stock rims so I don't want to go over 12.5 wide. Plan on getting wheel spacers.

Looking at trucks with a similar set up as mine, some 35's look good, others not so much. I'm starting to lean towards 37's, but I don't like the stuffed wheel well look.

Anyone have 37's with the 3:92 gears? Does it hunt for gears on major highways? 35's? Same question.

Has anyone gone from 35's to 37's with my gearing? Thoughts?

Thanks

Bob

If your an 8 speed it just depends on the weight of each tire. 35's and 3.92 was very tolerable. 37's required switching to 4.56's for the truck to drive similar.

Love my 37's hate the weight

Your rig looks great!

If I'm understanding you went with 37's after 35's and found there was a significant enough loss of performance you had to re-gear from 3.92-4.56. Correct?

I have the 6 speed auto trans with 3.92's and ran/offroaded KO2 37x12.5x17 for 12k miles with just a 2.5-2.75" lift before i went back to 315/70/17. MPG sucked badly in the city which i new it was bound to happen, acceleration wasn't bad but i lost the peppines on the truck and i was using the tow switch a lot going uphill, but for me the most important thing was the offroad performance was compromised as 4hi in the sand sucked as the truck felt extra heavy, and i mean she's about 800lbs heavier than stock with all the mods i have but still ... she doesn't feel that way running 315/70/17's. All in all my bottom line was affected (offroad) so i sold them and went back to 315/70/17's. I can say in general 3.92's even with a Hemi wouldn't be the right gearing for 37's, let alone one with the 6 speed trans. It shoud be better with the 8 speed but only you can make that determination.

I loved my stuffed truck on 37's

But she's a lot more agile on 35's

37's on a 1500, **** is gonna break. If you don't mind the cost to front suspension, go for it. Didnt mention stock rim size, but 18 inch rims will make 35's look extra killer. Something about 18's, makes even OEM size tires look decent.

BTW those 18's are only like 700 bucks for a 4 set, another ram member got his set last week, digs them.

Yes correct. I regeared to get my performance back. Otherwise the 3.92's hunt for 8th gear if your doing 75+ on freeways.

I did run the 4.56 gear with 35's. It was some fun tire fire.

Love the 37's !! Especially on a big ol nasty 20x12 wheel! With 9" of total lift. 6" suspension and 3" body. I'm in Canada so highway speed is 100km or on a divided 4 lane 110km. Truck drives fine for me. Like my ramforum name im in a 8sp with 3.92 and have no reason to regear, but im happy how everything is. If you don't go with what you really want, you'll regret it...no regerts!! Best of luck.

Let us know with what you decide.

Cheers

Stock 8 speed hemi and 3.21 gears here with 37x12.5s, it definitely feels slower but it's not bad at all, would be a lot nicer with the factory 3.92, and fantastic with 4.88s haha.

It can make it up mountain passes and cruise on the highway just fine... made it from SLC to South Tahoe and back averaging 80-90 mph without gear hunting while getting a whopping 14.1 MPG.

I set the tire circumference for the 37s using AlphaOBD, I'm sure without that the 8 speed would be searching around 7th and 8th.

I like the front bump, can I ask where you got it and how much did it cost?

6/3 BDS kit,w/ Fox coilovers, I started with a 295/65/20 on stock wheels. Now 37/12.5 on 17" Hutchinson wheels. I love the 37's, great ride. I have some extra weight on the front and back. I have 3.92's, truck still drives well with the 8spd. I would love to have some 5.13's. Last pick for comparison of tire/wheel combo.

Hate to bring this old thead back from the dead but didn't wanna make a new thread about it.
How have you liked 37s being in chattanooga? And how do you feel the brakes handle them if you DD your ram?
37s are on my short list to go on when its time for new tires and emergency stopping is my next big concern with 37s. I do have powerstop brakes up front and a rear set in the garage for when its time

I like the 37's but I don't DD it. I do wish I had more gear than the stock 3.92 but they work, especiallywith the 8spd. I manage to get out in the woods every once in a while and the truck does well, (definitelybigger than a Jeep). I did upgrade to a set of Hawk pads front and rear and that helped alot with the brake. It wasn't that bad with the stock pads but my wheel/tire combo isn't light.
