For a couple of weeks I’ve had to cycle the ignition key once or twice to get anything to happen. Today I’ve had to cycle 8-10 times and then it starts just fine.
One try I heard a faint “arc” sound from the engine bay.
Any ideas?
Thanks

That was my initial thought but not hearing any kind of sounds except once, made me question it.
I am assuming the solenoid can be replaced by itself. Is that correct?
Last time I changed a solenoid was probably back in the 70’s.

No, not a seperate piece, it's built in to the starter. I would confirm it with a volt meter then pull the starter and bring to your local auto place for testing.

Check your battery cables as well. Mine did this a while back and I suspected the starter, but it turned out to be a loose cable.

I did tighten everything and so far it’s started on first attempt.
Test will be in the morning.
Thanks.

Can you hear the starter motor spin but not turn the engine over, I may be the started Bendex going out, Its what cranks the engine over, Its a one way clutch.
