This happens every few times I go to start my truck - I put the key fob in, turn to start and nothing happens. I need to pull the fob out and reinsert it and it always starts on teh second try. It's annoying, but I'm mostly concenred that one of these days the second try won't work and my wife will be stranded somewhere. Anyone know the cause of this behavior and how to solve it? TIA

So you have the FOB that is inserted into the Ignition, also called the WIN Node or Module

When you insert the FOB & turn it to the first notch, i think that is ACC or ON position
Look at the EVIC, Instrument Panel & see if you get any message
Then turn it to RUN & see if there is a message.

The way that i understand it is that, in the FOB plastic head, there is a chip that sends out a very weak signal.
As your FOB head barely touched the ignition, that weak signal is picked up by receiver in the shape of a ring that encircles the FOB.
The send signal that say Howdy & it is either accepted , like a hand shake, or refused, like being flipped the finger.

I would not think that your FOB circuit board should be all that dirty, being it is a 2019, but you may want to split the case & clean any contacts on the Green circuit board

Use a clean pencil eraser to lightly rotate the eraser against the contacts, some ppl use a cotton swab with a cleanser of some type & then wipe off any film

That makes sense -- with the sensor and all. You are right about my fob being clean. It's like brand new. I don't recall any messages but I'll keep an eye out the next time it happens. Thanks.
