Just curious, I sent my 15w 40 full synthetic Amsoil in for an oil analysis after 11000 miles and the report came back bad. Basically an F.
0 being oil is like new to 4 being engine can be damaged from this oil. It cam back a 4.
I was led to believe this high end oil is "better" than the average stuff. This is the write up below, I also have all the teck specs.
My truck is my daily driver, and in this 11000 miles has towed 11000-lb one trip for 400 miles. So vertually no towing.
Anyone else ever send one in and have results?

Viscosity is SEVERELY LOW. Causes include contamination, incorrectly identified viscosity grade, or adding a different viscosity grade to
the component. Increased component wear possible. If grade is misidentified, it can be updated in HORIZON. Is the FLUID VISCOSITY
GRADE correctly identified? Silicon is at a MODERATE LEVEL; SILICON sources can be abrasives (dirt, Alumina Silica), seals and gasket
material, lube additive or lube supplement, and/or environmental contaminant; Tin is at a MODERATE LEVEL; Possible bushing/******
metal; Gear and/or bearing metal is at a MINOR LEVEL; Maintenance action indicated at time of submission (fluid/filter change ,
filtration, etc.) will have corrected the issue this system is exhibiting. No further maintenance action is recommended at this time. We
acknowledge the FLUID INFORMATION was provided, however we were not able to validate it within our database or from the fluid
manufacturer. Please contact the Data Analysis Department to clarify the information. Thank you. Please contact the Data Analysis

The emissions systems on these trucks can contaminate oil pretty quickly. I run Shell Rotella T4 15-40 in my deleted 2011 and change every 5,000 miles. It could probably be okay to run longer but I don't put the miles on very fast. The last time the dealer changed the oil, according to the receipt, they put T6 full synthetic 5-40 and I am pretty sure it will get changed at 5,000. I always figured oil, even as expensive as it has become, is still cheaper than a new/rebuilt engine.

Amsoil is snake oil, it’s no better than anything else available and costs more. I’m not a fan.

My oil runs about 7-8k miles before a change.

There are threads on other forums where folks post their oil analysis reports, for the most part, after 15,000 miles the oil is still fine on the 2013 plus MYs. These trucks handle the emissions downstream in the exhaust except for minimal EGR.

I've done nothing buy 15k oil changes in my 2016 since day 1 using Rotella T6. No issues what so ever. I think yours is the first that I have seen fail a oil analysis that badly.

I've never been a part of the Aimsoil marketing machine so don't no what to tell you on that. Plenty of other oils out there that meet the required specifications and work just fine.

It's not the towing that will destroy the oil but short trips where the oil doesn't get to operating temperature for a while. You can't go by the factory oil temperature on the dash as it like the oil pressure is a calculated value. Idling these engines cool them off, you need to work them to get them warm and with 3 gallons of oil along with close to 800 lbs of iron, that's a lot to get heated up. What kind of daily driving is the engine subject to?

I have 10k on the oil, Rotella T6 5w-40 Full Synthetic. I just bought Valvoline Premium Blue 5w-40 Full Synthetic and getting ready for the oil change. My truck is an 11’, it uses a lot of egr stock. I’m in Commiefornia, so my smog is every 2 years and I’ve learned to have a stock appearing intact emissions when it’s due and otherwise the rest of the time. My oil is always blacker than night. So I’m looking forward to see how the Premium Blue does, I’m sure it’ll be black instantly. Remember, oil doesn’t wear out, it’s gets dirty.

Is your truck 100% stock? Are you running a stock air filter?

I run the stock air filter. My truck is on a diet, but hasn’t lost any weight. She’s feeling healthy breathing in clean fresh air.

All AmsOil is full synthetic as far as I know, but they have different levels. The SignatureSeries Max Duty is the top of the line abd is rated for 2 times OEM drain interval or 25,000 miles and the Heavy Duty is only rated for stock oil change intervals. Also, are you using the AmsOil filter with the oil? If you are using a different brand oil filter it may not filter as well as the AmsOil filter. There is also the possibility of you having issues with your engine as well. I would suggest trying another brand oil, use the same brand oil filters as you previously ran, and then run the test again at the same interval to see if it is indeed an engine issue or oil issue. Not trying to talk up AmsOil just something to try.

Your oil is questionable as to being approved by RAM. Personally I use the Pennzoil when getting oil changes att the dealer. I just do not believe my truck will last one more mile using other oild brands.

This is a Cummins not a Hemi. Amsoil meets all RAM and Cummins specifications.

If the test was run thru Blackstone they will tell you if you had fuel dilution. I typically change my oil in the fall & sprin (around 5-7k miles typically)A couple of springs ago, my 15w40 was told was the equivalent of 5w40 according to them.

I run Valvoline Premium Blue 15-40 summer, 5-40 winter. Never had a bad report come back other than the fuel dilution the one time.

So I have been in the oil business for...since 84. Run hundreds of oil analysis. Tried dozens of oil and additive combinations. Invented one so good a big oil company sued me. Sold it to a fella in Europe and he made millions from it. 2016 6.7 Cummins Tradesman 35000 all stock. 64,000 miles. Following manufactures warranty instructions and changing at 15,000 miles. 12 to 13 mpg. Maybe a little better but usually pulling a boat with a side x side in back. Rotella T6 synthetic, mopar filter.
I figure if they are covering warranty on drive train for 100k following their 15k recommendation, they are smarter collectively than I am. Never had a oil related problem. Pull a full 1600 gallon water tank on a 4,000 lb. tilt bed trailer and this beast barely notices. Only thing I wish they could figure out is a nicer suspension because going down any road empty will shake you to death. I go 30,000 miles on secondary fuel filter and 15,000 on primary after replacing both the first time and the secondary was still white as snow. Cummins would not give that much warranty for 15 k changes if it cost them.

As fo i, fleetgaurd filters, no one makes them better for a Cummins than Cummins own filter unit. Valvoline premium blue is recommended by Cummins. I do not change grades as I live in the desert where winter and extreme cold just do not exist. 1: 12v at 1,232,954, others are below 500,000. All are diesel.
