I've always bought a Haynes manual to go along with each vehicle I own.

I get a subscription to Mitchell or Alldata etc. Yeah, they’re in your pocket on an annual basis, but it’s good value if you DIY a lot.

Looks like the factory service manuals cost over $200 new, though.

My last one was $260. for my '09 Ram 1500. Ordered it from the parts dept at the dealership shortly before the warranty ran out.
It might sound like a lot but, one screw-up on a new, computer comtrolled whatever could cost you a lot more than that. Just the wiring diagrams alone are worth the price of admission.

You can order a specific service manual made from FCA for $129 on a USB jump drive. Got mine, worth every penny.

No doubt the factory service manuals are the best. Esp the general description' at the beginning of each section which describes how the item (system) is supposed to function. One you gain an understanding of that it really helps diagnosis. I also bought a CD off ebay for $9 that's pretty good.

How did you get it to open? I've tried on different computers and even a computer shop couldn't do it!You can order a specific service manual made from FCA for $129 on a USB jump drive. Got mine, worth every penny.

@Old Sarge, work fine on a simple Win10 PC. Did you get the key with it ? The jump drive look like a thick business card with a flip tab that you connect to any USB but you have to insert it the right side. You can physically insert it both side but the contacts are one side only. There's a second "business card" with a key on it. You only need to enter once, after that you can open it at will.

I got further than I have before but it tells me I have to have IE 10 which is no longer available. Computer shop couldn't open it on older computer. I'll have to try and find someone still running the IE 10 I guess
