Hello everyone. I currently have the weather-tech soft roll up only down fall is I can’t put anything on top of it when closed (toolboxes). I had the bak Industry first gen roll up on my old truck now I’m looking at the TruXedo Sentry CT or the bak Revolver X4s. anyone have either one pros and cons are welcome as for installation.

Am currently asking the exact same question. Did you pull the trigger on either of these?
I was leaning toward the X4s for the full length rail lock, but am now on the Sentry CT, thinking that the velcro seals might keep water out more effectively.

If you got either of these, is it easy to pry open either from the sides or at the tailgate?

have you looked at the Roll n Lock covers? they're key-locked metal retracting covers, either vinyl-covered or powdercoat finishes available. Bit pricey but good. installed one on my '21 Bighorn and really like it.

I finally pulled the trigger on a Sentry CT. Install was easy. Looks good. Time will tell if it holds up but so far so good.

HUJ, Can you let us know if it is easy to lift up the sides with the velcro for someone to potentially see the cargo. I am about to pull the trigger on either the X4s or the CT as well and I'm torn..

I just ordered the Revolver X4S, waiting for it to arrive. I had 2 Bakflips on prior trucks and they held up and worked well, so I stayed with Bak. I also didn't like the idea of velco on the Truxedo. And I respected that Bak made improvements (resulting in the X4S) based on issues from the original version. I also was a bit concerned with the textured finish of the CT trapping pollen, dust, etc.

We have sold a lot of each and both have great feedback. If we can assist anyone with getting either of these or any other bed cover please message us. We can provide you a quote and availability.

I just installed a sentry ct on my 2020 Power Wagon, the cover is very nice and well built, BUT, im not sure if its only mine, but i can lift up the rubber flap on the tailgate and see into my bed and there is enough flex in the slat i can stick 4 fingers between the bed and the top of the tailgate, im going to see if i am able to get to the unlatch cable and open it. i have sent a message to truxedo questioning the situation, 1000$ bed cover better be more secure than this.

My Bak Revolver X4S is arriving tomorrow. I'll put it on over the weekend (or maybe even tomorrow) and try some of the same tests...
I'm looking for relative security - just to keep hands-off temporarily, when at a store, etc. - not so much for safekeeping expensive items long-term. I'm sure your's will do the same. They're not designed to be safes.

I know they are not designed to be safes, but i was able to get my fingers in and pull the cable with my finger tips and release one side, then release the whole thing in a couple seconds with my tailgate closed and locked, so anything in my bed would have been fair game. my old hard trifold would not come up and it was half the cost. dont get me wrong i love the new cover it looks amazing functions well but some one could literally steal the entire cover if time permitted, im talking to truxedo, and have installed a temp fix to stop the easy open issue.

I hope they have a fix. That sounds too easy to get into. Let us know what Truxedo says.

My Bak Revolver came today and I just installed it. While the back flexes a little when I force it up in the center of the tailgate, it wasn't enough to slide my hand into it. In addition to it not flexing enough, it has a seal the hangs down which made it more difficult. Also, the release cords are on the outside ends of the cover, which barely flexed at all by hand.

Now that being said, a prybar would pop the latches with some effort, but brute force would get you into anything. You may be able to grab the cord with a hanger after some fishing around but I don't think the hook of a hanger would be strong enough to pull it AND you have to pull it down, not out. Anyway, I think we're talking about preventing casual/opportunistic theft, not a concentrated attack.

Yeah if a theif wants in he will find a way in. the angle bar i added helps with flexing also, its aluminum, but im probably going to change to a steel angle bar. more rigidity.20211114_133927.jpg20211114_133931.jpg20211114_133942.jpg20211114_134003.jpg20211114_134023.jpg20211114_134027.jpg20211114_134033.jpg

The roll up type with Velcro would not be a very secure cover anyways, mostly made for weather proofing and aesthetics like many of them.

the cover is not snapped down and latched in the pictures, the pictures are supposed to show the added bar for security before its locked down, once its locked down there is no way to get your hand or hanger or prybar past the bar.

I had the BAK Revolver roll-up on my previous truck. I did some "security" checking prior to our cross-country move and found the pull-strings on either side could be pulled down by inserting a long screwdriver at the top of the tailgate and working the cable.
To fix this, I cut a couple small sections of spare metal and screwed them on to cover the gap. It was never tested in real life but seemed to fix the issue. Or at least hinder things badly enough that it would cause them to move along to another target.
I'm planning to get the same cover for my new 1500 Big Horn and make the same mod.

I have the Truxedo Sentry vinyl (easy washing), and I’m pretty happy with it.

It isn’t easy to lift the sides from the Velcro, but a determined thief probably isn’t put off by that. The cover works, well, is strong, and easy to clean, does a reasonable job of keeping moisture, dust and snow out of the bed.
