@ram1500rsm with all the offroading that you have been doing, have you ever been tempted to go in for a 3" - 4" lift kit? Or do you think that you have the right balance of clearance and tyre size for a daily driver?
Nah man. i'm not into that type of lifts, have zero interest in bracket lifts. I have what i need to accomodate 35's and have fun with the truck everywhere.

TBH, if I ever think about higher than a 2" lift, I would opt for something with a diff drop to avoid the front axles being on an angle that can cause failure. But when it comes to diff drops, I don't see anything like a diff drop for anything lower than 4". 3" mostly all use spacers.

I was looking at some trucks with 4" lifts and they really got me thinking. The 4" lifts look really nice, but being my daily driver, I sometimes go to the mall or shopping centre for groceries and it would be difficult if I can't fit in the parking lots.

Sounds good.
So the 35's fit under there without any scrubbing when you turn the wheel on full lock?

Correct. I was able to fit 37x12.5x17 KO2s as well under there. Keep your caster in the 5-5.2* range. Icon ucas or Zone ucas can get you there.

6’9” to the top of the roof, just measured for you
Thank you. That's just about 2.05 meters, so I guess if my truck had a 6" lift it should fit in the parking lot of the mall closest to me. The mall parking lot sign says max height is 2.2 meters.

That is something to think about.

I've been looking at the picture of the lifted trucks, I have to admit that the 4" lifts look impressive. They don't look that tall.

Reading online through reviews and threads, it seems that Rough Country gets a pretty bad rep. Can anyone explain why?
Rough Country 4" Kit

Also in terms of lifted trucks, I don't see anyone talking about the kits from;

I think part of what you might be asking can be answered that these lifts - all 3 of them - don't really do anything to improve the suspension over stock. They raise the vehicle but it's really all just spacers to relocate the stock suspension relative to the body. Even the knuckles - their only job is really as a spacer between the axle, steering tie rod and upper control arm.

If somebody had $2000 USD to spend on improving their truck's suspension they could get 4 inches of elevation with no actual suspension improvement... or they could get 2 inches of elevation from premium shocks/coils/arms but a significant improvement in ride comfort, control and durability. Both get the same ground clearance because really that's a function of tire diameter a taller lift doesn't change how much clearance you have under the axles unless you're going to run 40" tires or something.

Check Carli if you don’t want to thinker much. You get a full set of King 2.5 CO and 2.5 rear shocks which are one of the best shocks money can buy, tuned for the package. they say 2" front 3/4" rear. they give you rear springs, sway bar links, uca's etc.

If you like to build your own you can get the shocks valved and tuned from Accutune or Filthy Motorsports. For example
Acctune King 2.5's valved and tuned with Reservoirs and adjusters: $3198
Accutune King 2.5's with Res $2548

For UCA's i'll vouch for Icon Delta Joints, but any UCA's with uniballs and poly bushings will work.

If you're going for exploration and you'll have a bed full of gear , better to start with Icon 1.5 springs, if you're adding RTT's, steel bumpers, rock sliders, full spare, etc, Clayton 2.5 springs are your ticket to keep the rear up. Kings will work like a dream with either of those coils. Clayton are more specific to the JT world. 2.5" coils, triple rate, COR-1510251. I'm running 29" extended custom made King 2.5 rear shocks, literally same specs from the long travel rear kit from Dirt King. The Clayon springs are long enough to support such shocks, and still heavy duty enough to carry/ handle extra weight from whatever gear youll throw back there.

You'll need +1 rear sway bar links, which you can get from Core4x4 if you go with the Icon 1.5 coils
You'll need +2 rear sway bar links if you go with the Clayton springs.

in either case, you'll also want to replace your rear control arms and trackbar, Clayton have a set in opinion with one of the best control arms as they don't require any maintenance, they make them with Giro DDB bushings which are super flexy on both ends and the bushings are long lasting, arms are just damn pure beef, and those bushings will take factory torque 190-200ft/lbs both uppers and lowers, they are Clayton Overland + control arms, COR-1710120

Clayton Trackbar is COR-4510110, that one has an Enduro Currie joint in one side with giro ddb bushing on ther other. Before you ask everything you see Clayton is aftermarket parts for the 2020+ Jeep Gladiator JT. No they're not stock jeep Parts, they're made for overlanding so everything is HD stuff designed for aggressive offroad and to wishtand overslanding tasks, weight etc etc.

Finally you can also replace your factory rear sway bar with a Hellwig 7709. set it in the 3rd hole for max flex.

I'm telling you from experience what works, and works well for an overlanding/offroad rig that can go fast in the dirt with a mid travel setup :) my truck has 100k miles, and i'm still on factory unmolested front LCA's, tie rods and cv axels, i beat the crap out of my truck and she keeps begging for more. Fits in most parking structures just fine. front is set at 2.75", rear is about 1.75", zero spacers, 500lbs extra in the bed from spare, steel bumper, gear etc, 160lbs extra right in the middle from rock sliders, 160lbs front bumper + winch, full spare in the back etc etc.

Have fun.
Pictures ? Your rig sounds like a beaut

So.. I did a thing...

Just when I finally have the funds together to get a AEV kit, they're out of stock again.
Looking through our local online version of ebay, I came across a guy selling a used 4" lift kit for the Ram 1500. It was for a really good price.

The only issue is that the kit did not include the shocks or the mounting for the shocks. That is all that is missing.

For the price, I could not pass up the opportunity. Can anyone give any advise here for what can be done?

I've pretty much identified that this is a Superlift. I will be changing the rear coils and the shocks later down the line.
What makes me wonder is whether we are able to fit the stock 17" rims with the Superlift kit. I don't really want to go with anything bigger than a 17" for my truck.

@DILLIGAF Thank you. I stand corrected. I assumed that it was the Superlift because of this picture.
images_ePIM_original_SEIK119_w715_h500_q80.jpg
Most of the other kits had dual rate springs for the rear.
Also the seller told me that the kit came off a truck with Bilstein shocks. So I immediately assumed that it was Mopar / Superlift kit.

I'm not sure.. but looking at the knuckles again, I believe that these are BDS knuckles. So maybe I've been going about it all wrong. Thanks you.

I guess that what what you get when you spend 160 USD on a lift kit.

With the BDS lift that I've got, I've been told that I need to get new rims or spacers. I want to use 17" rims on my truck. I don't want to go bigger. BDS says that I need to get 17x9 with 4-1/2 backspacing.
Considering I have the stock rims, which are 17x7 with 5" backspacing, what size spacers do I need?
