Well, they could have done like GM, after all it was GM that is at fault for everything. if not for dex with that stuff in it there would have not been any damage or mis information.

I use DexCool in a couple vehicles that require it. According to the dealer (and my searches), Shell it the only mfgr.

For Rams, I go to a small town dealer and they pump the right stuff out of their drum into a milk jug/s. Not very expensive. I never mix coolants. Haven't had any problems. I wouldn't advocate you mix coolants either.

Dex can be a real issue in older rigs. Turns to almost like clay especially if there is a leak. Funny part about coolant is new ones are rated for 5yr/100,000 or even 150,000 but people were doing that with the old original green too. Seems like coolant is neglected by most people. They change it at best when the water pump goes.

Color of OEM coolant can change color to look pink/purple depending upon temp of the coolant. Now ambient temp color can look different also

I don't know much about the universal coolants, I do know for some guys who peeled this onion, peak global life is particularly popular. Some of those guys like Syn aren't active anymore, but in this particular area some of the work on BITOG could shed light on it. Come here for oil advice, go to the oil site for coolant advice, lol.

Have the truck 2 years now and so farr still pink in the reservoir tank.

Here is the saftey data sheet on peek global life, and I see why it is universal and popular. The bottom thing is just a bitterant so people dont drink it. So basically this is just an OAT based coolant with nothing else added. Now, manu's put all kinds of things in thier oat coolants, we know what GM does with dex, but both asian coolants both have different additives as well. So, the real question is are those additives "needed". Can't help anyone there, but as you see Peak Global Life is basically just a coolant base. diethylene glycol seams to be a variant of ethylene glycol which is the main base of oat coolants, and is less then 5% of this product.

So the "all vehicle universal" coolant by prestore has the same thing as dex cool, I just looked it up in safety data sheet. 2-Ethyl Hexanoic Acid, is in prestone all vehicle, here is sds.

Now I see why people like peak global life but leave the prestore alone. Learn something new every single day.

That is the Platinum. Did you check the normal universal as well?

The difference is it seams peak global life costs as much as mopar, if not more, so mise well just by mopar coolant.

yeah thats it, both prestone all vehicle have it. It seams the difference between a 10 year or 15 year coolant, is the variant of ethylene glycol.
