Yo, Bennie.

I'd like to add the OEM remote start option to my 2017 Laramie. For some reason, it came with most every option I wanted, EXCEPT remote start (I bought it used...).

Anyway, I get conflicting information regarding the kits, whether they're even available for my p[articular truck, as it has Keyless Entry, Keyless GO, and I checked, as the Keyless Entry FOBs do NOT have the extra pad on the PCB under the rubber skin for the remote start.

Does RAM make a kit for my truck, and if so, price and availability from you would be really nice.

BTW, I already have AlfaOBD, so I assume I could program this myself, if I can get the correct kit.

My VIN is 1C6RR7NT7HS504478

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Hi Rod,
This kit should work for you https://www.allmoparparts.com/sku/82215050.html

Its available in a few weeks. I suppose AlfaOBD can take care of the programming but I am not 100% sure on that. I see some conflicting info too and I think we will need to make a correction here as your truck does have GX4 passive entry however I cannot see why this would not work. Your truck is already equipped with a RS RF module.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
-Benny

I do, in fact, have Option Code GX4.

Also, on your illustration at least, it shows the plug-in keyfobs. Mine have the stay in your pocket fobs.

Wouldn't that make a difference, or would I just have to buy the remote start fobs, also?

Thanks again.

I didnt even think of that o_O. Thats the problem then the fobs!

We would have to get you 2 fobs https://parts.moparonlineparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-integrated-key-fob-transmitter-56046956aj

And the RS hood latch https://parts.moparonlineparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-hood-latch-68159725ab

The problem is the hood latch wiring from the kit is not available as a separate component. It would be worth checking to see if you have a taped up harness near the hood latch first. If not I know there have been some members here who have made their own custom harness.

That should be all you need in regard to parts.

Great news.

I'll check on the harness tomorrow.

Thank you for researching this.

I'll get back with you on the fobs & latch.

Stay safe.

I'm also trying to add remote start to my 2020 Ram 1500 Classic SLT. I have tip start fobs that do have the contact pad for remote start. There is a wire connector near my hood latch, taped up under the radiator support. I have Alpha OBD for the programming portion. Are the only hardware pieces I need the hood latch with the switch and new 4 button fob cases? Also, can someone post a pic of where the hood latch wire is supposed to terminate so I can check, or is it a case of "if it's there, you're good"?

Thanks Benny, but I'm still confused. This shows only the fob, is that all I need? I thought the RS hood latch was required. It seems to me, from what I've been reading, that I can test this by turning it on with alpha, grounding one side of the hood latch connector and opening my fob and activating the correct button. Would this test work? Do I actually need new fobs if the buttons are on the green board, or just the overlays? Thanks again.
