Had this issue yesterday. Truck said right brake light was out ended up being the cab brake light. I replaced the bulb (housing was dry) but I’m still getting the brake light out message. Any way to reset this?

Interesting...the message on the EVIC showed my right side brake light out on the infographic but I didn't check the third brake light! I'll look at that this evening.

Same issue with my truck!

I'm also getting strange warnings. Mine is Right Rear Turn Signal Out. It also does the fast blink (only on the side mirror). The turn signal is fine. As are all rear lights (brake, backup, turn signals). It comes and goes. My patience, however, is long gone.

Lately, I have been getting a brake light out message at start up every morning. The message stops after one or to displays and the brake light is working properly. Could this be a loose connection at the bulb or something more sinister?

I had the same problem where the infographic showed that I had the right brake light out. I believe that is a default graphic. It was the 3rd brake light on rear top of the cab. I replaced the 921 bulb, and after starting the truck, the stored message was gone.

I'm guessing your third brake light is out. If it is, I'd replace that garbage foam gasket inside the cover and replace it with a better material. I did that with my truck after I discovered about 2 inches of water in the small storage compartment after a heavy thunderstorm. I just used epdm weatherstripping from Home Depot. It hasn't leaked since.

Mine actually shows the driver side out. I didn't think to check the third one. Update to follow

WOW just like everyone else, it was the third brake light. Thank God for these forums, I was going crazy! LOL

The 3rd brake light gasket material they use at the Ram Assembly Plant hardens up & lets water in.
The dealerships carry the same material.
If a bulb goes out or if you start to get water in the cab, get a better gasket material

Hello All, when I bought my "16" Outdoorsman, I changed the 3rd brake light and cargo lights to LED's, and sealed up that 1/4 inch gap between the cab and light lens with permatex black silicone. I also think the incandescent bulbs may be getting to hot when the brakes are held on for an extended amount time, causing the 3rd light housing to warp and leak.

A beautiful thread. Been having this issue for years and I blamed the Spyder led tail lights. Which work fine. Today put my OEM tails on and still same error and then I found this thread and it was my cab brake light.

Water in the tailbed light... Happened on my old 2012 Quad Cab 1500, and it happened today after a carwash on my 2019 Crew Cab BigHorn Classic. In both cases, I ended up using painters tape and clear silicon caulk to seal the gap. You may ask, what about when you have to change the light? You just break the seal and peel off the old... apply new. Why didn't I buy some new gasket foam? I had the caulk on hand. Works fine.

Received a right brake light out message on my dashboard tonight. I had to use a plunger to hold the pedal down and discovered that the right brake light was fine. After going a little crazy I noticed the center light was out so I change that bulb and low and behold the message cleared. I guess they didn't want to add that message to the list.

Searching this forum would have provided you with that solution. The search function on here is a great tool to have. You are not the first to wonder about that light out warning .

I know this is an old thread but did a search and found it. Have after market LED taillights and getting the right rear brake light out message. Read the thread. Checked the high mount brake light and lo and behold… burnt out bulb. Great find thanks to those who came before
