Fix a Flat is really only going to work in the tread area anyway, which should be easy to find and fix. Take it off and use the kiddie pool or a spray bottle of soapy water and you should be able to find it. Pay close attention to the bead and stem. if it's in the tread I would just plug it if its the bead or valve stem you're going to have break a bead to clean it (I use a wire brush or scotchbite). They sell TPMS Service kits if its the valve stem. You should be able to find something on Utube that will show you how to do it look at several.

What exactly did the tire shop say? seems strange they can't find a leak that big 10 PSI a day isn't that slow.

Only tire I've had that was unrepairable was severely dry rotted from 3 years in storage. It cracked in the sidewall. Never had a shop refuse to fix a bead leak either. And I personally wouldn't put fixaflat in because it can damage alloy rims and tpms sensors

If it's on the sidewall or the tire has separated then very few shops will even try to fix it. Rim leak they will usually try to clean up the bead and then re mount. Not going to fault a shop for trying to fix a tire that shouldn't be fixed. I would skip the fix a flat. What size tire? Maybe check the used market or try to find a full size spare and use that for the winter since the full size spares aren't temporary tires.

Often remounting the tire will fix a slow leak or you may need to replace the tire's valve. Check also for damage to the rim of the wheel.

Is it leaking from the rim? Did you hit a curb and dented the rim?
If you did, do the old school job and hammer the rim into round.

If the leak if from the "no fix zone", ask the tire shop to put a tube in it.
Spring is just a few months way. Find the shop that will and balance the wheel.

The " we can't fix that " quote !
If they say they "can't fix it", then it is most likely a puncture in the side wall. Any tire shop worth their salt can even fix that. I just needs a patch/boot on the inside of the tire. Also, if you want to take the time, tube it for the time being.
