Hi guys,

does anyone know where I get the bushing from the front control arm? FCA didn't list them and they told me to buy complete new control arms after 100.000 miles which cost almost $900 for both sides. Only because the third bushings are nowhere listed. One of it is screwed up and I have aditional noises, when I drive over litte bumps...

Maybe someone knows an alternativ product from the aftermarket? Also control arms would be interesting instead of the OEM ones.

Here a picture of what I mean:

There are alternative to replacing the OE arms, but they are more expensive and shipping to Germany is probably going to be costly as well unless there are dealers in country.

Are all the bushings shot? I see the OE control arms for $475 ea., but cannot see the 2 bushings where link attaches to axle, very odd. The standard 2500 control arms have replaceable bushings, but the articulink seems to be altogether different. Someone may eventually be more helpful.

were you able to get what you needed? I am curious about this as well.

I have a 2018 PW with 53k miles, a 1.5" Thuren front end level kit, Fox 2.0 shocks (brand new), Thuren track bar, Synergy drag link and tie rod. I have, for some time now (before I installed the synergy parts) been having a similar issue with going over small bumps at lower speeds... not noticeable over 30 mph.

I was thinking, since I pretty much replaced everything else, that it has to be the control arm bushings, esp since I can hear/feel it under the front of the cab.

I am planning to do some research on aftermarket control arms or replacement bushings.

Good luck finding the articulink bushing. Thuren can’t track it down either. I have new arms being made but had zero luck finding the oem bushing.

it would appear the only way to get the oe small arm and small bushing is buy the entire control arm. i would like to hear their reasoning. they did the same thing on the thermostat oring. gotta buy the full housing for a $2 oring. whatever

sorry phil but bushings dont wear out in 3yr under normal circumstances. unless you ran it through baja1000 the last couple years ? when installing coils its best to loosen the control arm bolts so the bushings have no chance of binding up when the axle is dropped. and the 3 large control arm bolts bolts should be tightened 133ft lb +90* when the truck is back at normal ride height. the manual also says use new bolts. maybe theyre torq to yeild i suppose

phil did you torq the shocks , drag link ,tie rod and trac bar exactly to the specifications ? sorry but a couple squirts from a impact gun isnt good enough in this situtaion. neither is a couple tugs from a cheater pipe on a big ratchet. bolt and nut torq specs are put in place for a reason. something not torqed correctly could very likely be why your hearing a clunk over bumps.

so if your bushings are all bound up and the parts you installed werent torqed correct, im not at all suprised you have front end problems

Thanks for the input Jerry. I had the dealer install everything, level kit (springs and shocks), tie rod, drag link and track bar. The had the instructions from both Thuren and Synergy and I could tell they went through them by the amount of dirt/grease on every page (lol). The mechanic who did the work also builds rock crawlers in his own shop, so I assumed he knew his sh.t. I had the dealer install the parts because they are really good to me. Last jeep I had they did the entire lift and continued to honor the warranty.

The level kit was installed a few months after I purchased the truck (back in early 2019)... and it's kinda had this issue since. I am wondering now if he didn't loosen the control arm bolts when installing the new coils.

I had the thuren track bar installed shortly after the level kit, and had to replace the driver side bushing recently. I was making a creaking noise when turning (weight shift). The creaking is now gone.

well if he fabricated chassis and built motors you would hope his credentials should be more than enough to install a few simple front end parts on a ram truck.
but i think youve answered your own question. it sounds as if all your troubles started after him/they/the dealer ,had their hands on your truck.

Yeah, I figured.

I was under the truck for the last hour checking things out. Retorqued all the bolts and pinch bolts for the new tie rod, track bar and drag link. It was recommended to do after a few hundred miles of driving following install.

Decided to check the front shocks... The top of shock nuts are tight however, when I grab the shock itself (both driver and passenger sides) I can move it a bit within the ID of the shock mount bolt hole. My question is, should I be able to move the shock like that or is the top nut just not tight enough? Seems loose.

For a reference (to myself) I tried to do the same to the rear shocks and they do not budge one bit.

shocks should not move one bit. the fronts have a rubber or plastic isolater on top thats sandwiched between the mount. torq is like 35ftlb or something but without special tools you cant get a torq wrench on it. just use good judgment and tighten it as much as you can. bottom bolt i cant remember if its around 90 or 120ftlb. sorry i dont have my service manual in front of me

Yep. The isolator is there. Just need to get it tighter. Definitely not right. Thanks.

Nope. I’ve looked too. That bushing is nowhere to be found. I can’t even get anybody with mopar to get me a pn on the articulink bushing.
So he is looking for the bushing in the actual radius arm of the pw, not the bushings in the axle…got it

Here's pics of the 2 different bushings on the power wagons. The 68111083AA is the large bushings on the ends of the radius arm.
