Hey! Have the RAM 2500 Laramie with the center console. Need to install both my HAM radio and GMRS radio. Would love to see any ideas or how folks have mounted similar radios in their cabs that have the center console?

Thanks!

I have a dual band mobile ham radio with a separation kit so the control head is mounted up front in the center console with the radio itself placed inside of the console, toward the rear. When I am out of the vehicle, I place a ballcap over the control head so anyone looking into the truck will not see any part of the radio. See the attached photos.100_5027.JPG100_5025.JPG100_5023.JPG

For more ideas about mobile installs you might check out a site at www.radioreference.com and look under a forum entitled Pictures of Your Shack/Mobile Setup. From time-to-time some good ideas can be found here.

I was left with no other options. V1 of the mount I made. Next incarnation will most likely be about an inch shorter. All I managed to have to mangle this way is the tray that says RAM. Easily replaceable should I remove everything.

What did you use/do to make that mount? That is exactly what I am looking for.

Thank you

Just gave me an idea for stacking GMRS and Ham radios there. Quite innovative.

I just used .125" x 2" flat sheet steel. Took the plastic in the bottom of the Ram logo'd pocket to use a template, drilled the holes to line up with the factory retention holes accordingly, then made the stand offs about 1.5" tall, and put another plate across the top and drilled and tapped the mounting holes to the radio bracket. All in all about 15 minutes worth of work. If you have a welder anyway.
