Hey everyone. My rig is in my sig. Thanks in advance.

I will note, I am not a serious off road guy. I do enjoy a little off road play and easy to moderate trails. My rig is my daily driver but its seen its share mud and snow. I'm just not hardcore about the stuff as most.

Front axle is a AAM 9.25 Conventional Differential (Open)
Rear axle AAM 10.5 Anti-Spin Differential (Limited Slip)

I am looking to "upgrade" my front axle. I have been looking at my options which seem limited but good choices overall.

ELocker - Dodge AAM 9.25 Open Front Differential

and

Eaton Detroit TrueTrac

I am open to thoughts and suggestions. Please provide links. Thanks again!

If your going to spend the money, get the selectable locker..........
Yeah the Eaton Trutrac has has great reviews.

A friend mentioned, ARB lockers. But they require an air compressor. And I'm not sure I want to add another one to my rig. I already have one for my Airlift rear bags.

Don’t get me wrong, the Eaton Trutrac is an awesome upgrade and I’m sure would serve you quite well. Thing for me is they aren’t exactly cheap and if I’m in that far, why not go all the way.

As for an ARB, if you already have a compressor, heck, all you need is a small tank and some tubing, no need for another one!

So if you were to do this, besides ARB, what locker would you upgrade to?

I’d go factory AAM or Eaton E-locker if not ARB.

Yeah, I've been definitely looking at the Eaton. A local truck shop here in my town has one in stock. He is going to get me a price list of all parts needed and labor. He also has a couple other lockers ARB being one of them that he wants to show me before i make an absolute purchase.

TrueTrac isnt a 'true' locker. It basically transfers motion to the wheel with the MOST resistance. Unlike an open diff that transfers motion to the wheel with least resistance... Sometimes that can be a bad thing. Say, if one wheel is in contact with an obstacle it cant climb and you get on the gas too hard you could snap an axle real quick.

In my opinion, since you already have an air system on your truck, the ARB would be the way to go. The ARB locker is tried and true. I have one on my Jeep and love it. The only thing you would have to worry about is a hole in the air line. I keep a whole roll of it in case of damage.

I put an on-board air system on my jeep with a 'T' going to the ARB. All you really need is a small tank and a few fittings. Something this small would fit under the hood easily. https://www.viaircorp.com/air-tanks/05gallon

I would go selectable locks in the front or limit slip. If you do a standard locker it will lock up when turning and cause your truck to hop. I would second the arb they are really popular and has been proven over and over. When you lock arb in it I'd locked locker in like most. if your get a bigger tank and compressor you have a good on board air system. E lockers have come a long way and have been proven. Cheaper to run E lockers all said and done.

Sorry to bring up the old thread, but what did you end up going with and how do you like it?

I ordered a 2500 with the Anti spin rear and am thinking about installing the AAM Trac Rite E-Locker when I get it.

For a front axle I always say go selectable
If you have air on board go ARB if not the E locker has proven to be reliable
