Just bought a 17 ram 1500 sport with 15k miles, I get it delivered wednesday. Should I replace manifold with headers?

Hello everyone, I just bought my 2017 ram 1500 on carvana yesterday and it will be delivered to me wednesday. Its a 5.7 hemi with 15k miles on it. Assuming that everything on the truck checks out and I end up keeping it, would it be worth my time to replace the manifolds which I have read can warp with some short tube headers while the truck is low miles rather than waiting for the manifold to become a problem?

Ill be moving out of state in may-june and wont have access to my pops tool barn so as of now I could do the work myself but if i waited for it to become an issue I'll likely have to pay a shop to do the work for me-- which I have seen can get pricey when the studs start cracking
If anything i would do an aftermarket high quality cam and replace the lifters if you want big gains from headers

It's probably warmed up from them transporting it, if you can look for broken bolts they are on the ends of the manifold and upper, the heat shield being loose will tell you of a broken stud, if it's the Electronic E Brake, you won't have to worry about loose cables, It's a different set up than the manual foot pedal, it has a rocker switch that engages and disengages the ebrake. make sure it's working properly, take it for a run and make sure you don't get a check engine light for possible misfires, make sure its running smooth.

My canadian 2017 ram 1500 tradesman is warranted for 100kkm or six years (power train) which takes me to may 23. If your truck is under warranty I wouldn't worry about it. Make sure to transfer any remaining warranty.

How do you transfer a remaining warranty? Will the dealer do it?? I recently bought a 2017 from Canada as well.

My '18 Sport is just about to hit 2500 miles, about 500 of that this past month driving back and forth to the hospital (wife had a heart attack and 4 stents) and doing her errands/shopping. My '98 Dakota R/T had 58k when I replaced it in 2018, and I drove it to work 12 years before retiring. Gotta remember, there are some people out there that just don't drive as much as is considered normal. Especially when the wife's car is a twin turbo CTS-VSport with 420/430!

Plus, OP,........make sure before you spend the money that your vehicle will pass with the long tubes and tune.
If not, you just wasted a lot of time and money. LOL :D :insane:

All I have to do when I buy is tell the salesman that if I have any problems that I'm coming after his family...works every time! Lol
I wear a gun my salesman would say, come get ya some. Shoot, so many wear a gun in the state of Arizona, its wise to wear one in the first place.
This is one of my 9mm pistols, with a 50 round drum. I do get some looks every once in a while.

First things first. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That said, I drove a 92 DAK with 318, Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers, Dynomax Cat back, Mopar Performance comp, and Posi Rear. That was a Sport Truck worthy of the mods.
Next I bought an 03 1500 5.7 Quad LB and stuffed Gibson Stainless Short tubes and Flowmaster Cat back and CAI the first month I had her. Kept the CAI but removed the headers and Cat back within days of the install. It just ruined the limo like ride and shattered the peaceful cabin and was NO SPORT TRUCK.
18 years later I'm driving a 2021 2500 6.4 Quad LB Laramie and couldn't be happier with the comfort. Maybe I grew up? Anyway, I read once that these trucks are so smart, all the mods in the world make no difference unless you unleash the computer. The computer (PCM) will limit torque output unless you teach it new tricks. Don't know that to be a fact but I noticed no gain in power in the 03 just more noise. You wanna go fast, buy a Corvette, best speed for the money. JMHO, that's all, your mileage may vary.

To transfer the warranty, in canada anyways, phone Chrysler Canadas customer care number (it should be in your operators handbook). Have the serial number at hand and they will transfer the remaining warranty into your name. It will also give you an idea as to when the warranty expires. I recently had manifold bolts on both sides repaired no problem (shout out to knight automotive here in Kamloops B.C. for a seemless worry free experience).

I always like it when a person starts a thread and asks a question, people answer and have their own questions and you never hear from them again.

I hear ya! Of course most would realize that my story here is in jest.lol Im in Georgia and we like our 2nd amendment too.My bro builds those rifles also and reloads.Everybody I know that didnt lose their guns in a "boat accident" were very well equipped. On another note, although I respect peace officers dont ever be like a couple stories I heard about nyc officers firing,say,99 rounds but only hitting the perp in the ankle!Might have been a slight exaggeration tho.

I don’t have the truck yet, Carvana pushed my delivery date back to tomorrow (Monday) but my goal with the truck and asking about the headers isn’t necessarily more power but just that from now until may I will be in a position where I have access to the tools to fix the problem myself, after may I will have to pay a shop to get the work done in the instance that the headers needed to be replaced so I was thinking that if the manifold warp is really a huge issue, I would save up between now and may and get them replaced with something like the short tube headers or a 6.4 manifold while I have the means to do it myself… but if I’ll be done with grad school in a year and if the manifold can last a year even if it is warped, it’ll be a non issue getting them replaced

Personally, i would not worry about the 4 exhaust manifold bolts that hold the Heat Shield on, you can check those bolts as soon as you check the truck out.
Unless you plan on installing headers in the future, then it is a mute point.

Check with the selling company to see about a Mopar warranty, of any kind
