Could fill us in on the trouble-shooting information "a lot of sources" considered to diagnose a bad switch ? You'll likely get more and better input.

My go-to is to always be certain of my battery before going forward. I'm in Minnesota, and my 2018 has already had a new battery, due to a radio fault that ran the battery down overnight in sub-zero temps and allowed it to freeze.

In early years locksmiths used to get the code more recently fca dealers are stingy handing it out. I had a locksmith program 3 extra fobs back in 2011, since then it is hit or miss if that can happen, call all local locksmiths and ask them. My local guy couldn't do it, I drove to next town and that guy could do it. call around, it was very cheap for them to do this for me.

It would be rare to have a starter out so early but ish happens, if it is the starter find out why it failed, inspect it. If it was a short in the wire and the short is still there, you will fry the new one as well.

I will pull the battery and put it on charge and see what the amps and voltage are at and I will pull the starter off and inspect all wires and connections see if there is any bad spots tonight after work and look over the starter and see what it’s doing

I would suspect battery at first glance. Or connection.

A little more than 2 years ago, my '15 got just a little sluggish at first crank. A little struggle. Almost unnoticeable. A tiny rrr at the start of crank.

I procrastinated for about a week and a half, and one day, went to the grocery store. Came out, and click, all she wrote.

Got her jumped and home, replaced the battery and life is good once more. That was around the 95 k mile mark, and about 5 years on the battery.

Some go the distance, some don't. Especially in the snow, salt, and rust belt, that has to be a very tough existence for a battery, or electrical connections.

When you turn the ignition to start
Do the instrument panel lights flash or flicker

Have you tried to start it several times in a row, like 10 or 15 attempts. while watching the instrument panel for movement

Another thing, right now WIN Modules or WIN Nodes, they are called by both names, are pretty darn scarce
A member mentioned last week he had to go to a place in Texas to get his.
This outfit is in Texas, but he would not say yeah or nay to whether he got his unit there

I wondered if the Fobs where programmed to the WIN Module, is the WIN Module programmed to your Vehicle, or do you have to go somewhere to have it done

Ram 1500 DS from 2012 through 2021 has an IGNM ignition node module in the dash that can be replaced without reprogramming anything. The previously used WIN module would require programming. FCA split up the older WIN module into two parts, the IGNM and RFHUb. The IGNM is only the pass through now. Hope this helps. I was a Qual Eng for TRW that made those parts.
