Awesome brother thanks for the tips, I appreciate yall help so much!make sure you try to loosen your fill plug first. if that is locked tight and you have already drained the diff....not good

Nothing wrong with red line.. but imo not necessary.. any oil meeting the spec laid out in the owners manual will do. I do know from experience that synthetic oil does give more hp to the ground though. I've chassis dynoed semi trucks before, and the difference when both rear ends are filled with synthetic is 5hp, so on your 1500, that would equate to probably 0.5hp.So yall would suggest the redline gear oil then ???
YesI have some time today so I think I'm going to do my rear diff fluid change. Is this what you were talking about ?

My 2011 was one of those trucks affected and dodge before they were ram, inspected the diff and if it showed signs of low fluid an was under warranty rebuilt the diff.Right near the drive shaft on the passenger side of 2012 Ram 9.25" differential housing
There is a threaded plug, if you take notice, that plug is on the same level as the axle tubes that extend out to wheels.
That is done so that a bit of lubricant is getting to the axle bearings most of the time.
( back around 2009 - 2012, Chrysler made a mistake & had the Fill Plug too low in the Carrier assembly housing
When they realized their mistake, they put out a recall on the Differential Covers, the new covers had a hole drilled them at the level that would allow fluid to bath the wheel bearings & rubber plugs were used to fill the new hole )
Meanwhile, Chrysler put out the word to dealerships & customers that the fluid level was too low & that there was a chance bearings were not getting lubed.
The fix was to remove the vent in the drivers side axle tube & add differential fluid through the vent, they gave the amount of fluid that should be needed.
I found something that i think pertains to the low diff fluid

with both of the Rams i have owned, a 2009 & 2016 Ram 1500s
i wanted a differential cover that was easy to service, so i had the Mag Hytec covers installed
Dipstick makes checking fluid level a breeze
