What do you all think ? here is my take on this, I have owned bunch of those hemis over the years and I think the hemi is a good engine but I think Chrysler need to drop it from production the engine is getting old is not that efficient and begin to be underpowered , I would love to see a 4.0 L straight 6 turbo or smaller displacement dual over head cam v8 turbo in our trucks, I dont think this this will happened but I would love to see it in a near future , I think its time, CHRYSLER ARE YOU LISTENING ?

All my Hemis were fine in past 1500's. I miss the 4.0 from my TJ's, but I can't see them bringing it back. What a great engine that was.

I really hate to say this but I have been looking to get new truck and I have test drove few out there and our hemi IMO come near last only worse engine out there is that stupid GM 5.3 , I have test drove 6.2 from chevy 5.0 from ford 3.5 ford even 2.7 from ford I think is putting a good fight, definitely strong little fu@#er and gets great fuel milage .... our hemi is nice and smooth but is showing his age underpowered and love to drink gas.

I've said it a thousand times, why does anyone buy a Mopar and brag on other brands? If the others are better, stick with them. That question will NEVER be answered!

If I recall correctly, a V8 pentastar was designed, but was to expensive to build compared to the hemi.

I have been Chryslers customer for better than 20 years, long time mopar owner, long time with to many cars trucks and suv to list, but im also open minded and specially if I have to drop 60k on a new truck , I like to get the latest and greatest best thing for my dollar , like I said b4 ( IMO yours might be deferent , I think the hemi in our trucks is getting old and underpowered and inefficient, ) if you still happy with it good for you brother , keep on trucking.

to bad they haven't done anything I think that would help them sale more trucks, even down size the hemi and low boost it for slightly more power

I agree, 20 years old now.
Wish Daimler Benz hadn't wrecked Chrysler and FCA hadn't bought them out of bankruptcy.

Putting in a Cummins ISB4.5 sure would have been nice. Oh, well. Wishful thinking. I really don't like anything out there these days, so keep on driving my 2017.

Well I've been with them for 46 years and I'm the most satisfied one here. Thanks and I will keep on trucking!

Everyone has an opinion on engines. When I was looking at buying a truck a couple years ago, I drove quite a few of them. The chevy 5.3 was last on my list and the Ford 3.5 had plenty of power but the 5.7 Ram I liked the best. I hope they don't do away with it anytime soon.

No way. The Hemi is far from obsolete.

It is still barely outdone by only the Ecoboost in terms of power. Hemi 395hp vs Ecoboost 430hp. The Ram 1500 is still sitting right in the middle of the pack in terms of max towing at 12,750lbs. The Chevy needs a 6.2L to beat it with 13,300lbs max rated towing.
The Tundra and Titan are down to 9,000lbs and 10,000lbs max towing.

For fuel economy Ram, Ford and Chevy are nearly identical. Forget about the Tundra and Titan, they don't even come close.

Long live the Hemi!

Give us the 392 in a 1500 now damn it!

More to the point - 20 years is long in the tooth. You don't wait till you've been rendered obsolete to start new products.

But you just might if you're Stellantis, which seems more like a hedge fund than new product company.

Why would you drop it just because it is getting old? Still working great obviously. We still don't have direct injection like the Chevy LT guys. I would expect that before they drop the thing.

now 392 would be great in the ram1500, but not the 392 truck engine the 392 from the SRT DURANGO AND JEEP.

It's usually emissions, and fuel efficiency compliance that obsoletes a vehicle engine. Sounds like a turbocharged I-6 is already in the pipeline as a Hemi replacement.

My '05 GoMango Daytona rcsb was a beast! What a killer looking and driving truck.
I like the HEMI engine minus the MDS crap.
