Ladies and gents, I hope that someone can help me or point me in the right direction. For starters lets just throw out there that I've replaced my starter 3 times, and my flex plate once.

I'm pretty sure that my starter is hard wired because every time I start my truck the starter continues to spin until I put the truck in reverse, neutral, or drive, then it will disengage. I'm hoping that someone has had the same issue and can point me into the right direction because its becoming annoying.

I know there's a relay under or the fuse box which I have found and there looks to be some wire that's cut. I will try to add a picture on here tomorrow. But again if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be very appreciated!

Cheers!

Could be a bad key switch maybe? If it stays with power on to starter after you release the key and shifting is overriding that always-on power and thus allowing the starter to then disengage. Good luck

I have recently replaced the switch and that has done nothing, sorry I should of put that into my first description! I should also add, not sure if its normal, but if I turn the key to start the truck I can let go of the key and it will still crank until it starts, let me say again I do not have to hold it in the cranking position, I just have to click it over once to the cranking position and it will continue to crank until it starts

It is normal to crank until it starts or times out you dont need to hold the key I find it annoying however if turning the key off doesn't turn starter off then you have a issue there.

well hard wired no as anything you do with the transmission wouldn't do anything to the starter. ok lets go through some question and answer time and i mean no offense just trying to get the deets.
what starters are you buying and where? top shelf, mid priced, or bargain bin type stuff? is this a recent issue and you have been throwing starters at it to fix the issue? if so does the issue go away even temporarily with the replacement of the starter. does it do this every time you try to start the truck or intermittently.

think i had some other questions but ill hold off there. currently my thoughts are too numerous to aim you at a problem.

okay so I bought the truck like this thinking it was just a bad starter, however it does it every single time I start the truck , anything and everything I buy for this truck usually is the good quality expensive stuff. my theory cry once buy once, however, but to further answer questions, Its never stopped spinning even when putting a new starter on it, I know its an electrical issue, just not sure which issue lol

cheers!

By the time you've used your free time, and bought 3 starters, you could have put in a little extra overtime at work, and had your truck fixed by someone who knows what they're doing, And be money ahead, with no aggravation.

These things are computers on wheels. You can screw them up by putting in the wrong spark plugs. The days of me messing with anything electrical on a vehicle ended a long time ago.

Sorry for being honest and frank. (We live in an age where you have to now apologize for that.)
