I have narrowed my search for a folding cover to 3 choices. Gator EFX, Rough Country low profile and the BAK flip MX4. Gator and RC are the same price, nearly identical and both aluminum panels. Gator has 3 year warranty, RC has Lifetime. BAK also has Aluminum panels with a 5 year warranty. Is it worth over $300 more for the BAKflip or are the Gator and RC just as good? If anyone has any one of these let me know what you like or dislike about it. Thanks

I have to softop version of the gator on since Sept 2017 with no issues. Sounds like the RC is the way to go with the lifetime warranty.

The BAK MX4 is one of our most popular covers. It is a great cover and we highly recommend it. If you would like a quote send me a message.

Had a bakflip fibermax. Wish I had just gotten the standard aluminum. I’m sure it would have lasted longer. Then again my truck never sees shade. It’s outside every day all day. Loved and hated it. Had it for 3 years then the fiberglass started flaking and the rubber seals on the edges started leaking. Just Switched to a truxedo sentry hard roll up to keep my back window open. Was a tossup between the gator and the truxedo. Truxedo had 10% off when I bought which is what settled it for me. Vinyl bonded over aluminum.

I have the BakFlip and is my second cover. i would buy again for another truck. If properly cared for, the BakFlip will last as long as you need. Mine is in as good shape now as it was when i installed it, which was 2015. Perhaps a little more than other covers in cost, but by far a very well made and durable product.

I've got the Bakflip MX4 on mine. Came with the truck when I bought it. I'm not one for tonneau covers usually. Put my bikes in the bed too often in the warmer months. Although it is nice to toss it on in the winter to keep the bed clean. I will say that I'm fairly happy with the overall quality of it. I've sat on the top of it while applying a decal on the back window and it never felt like it would collapse on me, even though I'm sure I was well over the weight limit of it. Now for the negative, my personal experience with their customer service was subpar at best. I gave very clear detailed information on my vehicle, cover, and pieces I needed. Told them I was not the original purchaser and was wanting to buy the missing pieces. Sent photos of what I needed and everything, they billed me accordingly, or so I thought. I open the package to find hardware for a NON RamBox cover. Emailed them back, no response. So that alone makes me not want to buy another one if they can't/won't help after the sale. Other reports seem like its a crap shoot if you'll get good or bad customer service after the initial sale.

I will say that BAKflip customer service sucks lol .... another reason why I went with Gator covers and the fact that the original staff from BAKflip being sold is still running Gator covers ...

Do you have a picture of it rolled up?

Not yet. It was freshly installed Sunday and I’ve left it down so it’ll settle down. I’ll get some this weekend rolled up. So far I’m really happy with it. The fit is great. Install was easy. I’m pretty happy with the look. I can tell the bakflip was definitely a bit stronger (mostly by design) but I’m not worried because I don’t stack anything on the actual cover itself. I purchased the recommended spray from truxedo for the cover as well that they say to use once a month to clean the cover.

Tonneau covers are one of the notorious topics where a simple question will yield dozens of opinions - all good and all well meaning - but the vast options will make your head spin.

I had 2 Bakflips on my two prior trucks. They all sat out year round through 4 North-East seasons. I traded the first one in with my truck still in great shape after 5 years. My most recent Fibermax was sold privately after 3 years and the buyer was thrilled with the condition. I sold it because it came off a crew cab and I was getting a quad cab.

After having 2 tri-folds, I decided to go with a hard roll-up just to change it up a bit. I looked at Truxedo and while they had good reviews overall, I didn't like the velcro closing method along the sides. I went with the similar version from BAK - the Revolver X4S.

Just to make your decision a bit more confusing - below are pics.

All three are over priced and not sure worth the money. One can find a couple of very good products on Ebay, and other sites, where folding tonneau covers for your truck run between $149 to $199 and are just as good, if not better than the three you state. Have had two American Pride, one on a RAM and one on a new Frontier. They are perfect covers, durable, great quality and you're not paying some 'brand name'. Good luck, don't waste your money/
