Ultra Flex

I’ve had an Undercover Ultra Flex on my truck for 4 years. Still looks brand new and never sees a garage. Would definitely buy again.

I had a bakflip aluminum one for years…held up well…looked good.

I will say that it was not convenient…

I now run roll up truxedo low pro on my wife’s Ford and it’s the second one I’ve purchased for her on two different trucks. They block the water better and role up easy for cargo. Not as secure but better in every other way. They last along time as well.

On the dodge I went to a camper shell…not cool looking but I can put a lot of stuff in it on trips.

I'm an Undercover fan, I had the Undercover Classic 1 piece on a 2011 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman for seven years, it was a great cover.

This time around with the Tradesman HD I knew I wanted an Undercover but I'm older now and cannot remove and reinstall the Undercover Classic by myself anymore, so I went with the Undercover Armor Flex folding cover, and although it's only been two months I've had the truck I'm very happy with it so far.

Good timing! I just installed mine yesterday! History: I had the Gator tri-fold my 1500. Loved it. Even though it did not flip up against the back window. easy to use, easy to take off (only did so 3-4 times in 2 years). One of the side hinges broke after about a year. Still worked. I just bought the Tyger (Tyger Auto T3 Soft Tri-Fold Truck Bed Tonneau Cover Compatible with 2002-2018 Dodge Ram 1500; 2003-2022 2500 3500 | 2019-2022 Classic Only | Fleetside 6'4" Bed (76") | without RamBox | TG-BC3D1011) and it was $250. Quality seems to be better. Although the feature I liked about the Gator was that the latches would slide 3-4” so that when you closed it you didn’t need to be exact. The Tyger has a fixed latch, which still works fine but sometimes takes an extra 10 seconds. The Tyger came with foam tape for sealing the bed and the Gator did not. ($5).

soft versus hard: I had planned to switch to a hard fold and then I remembered that at least 10 times what I was carrying was 2-3 inches too tall to fit under a hard fold top. The soft top gives you “wiggle room”. Very happy after 24 hours… (ha)

I've had tonneaus from the old snap style with bows to tri-folds. I prefer the snap/bow style because of the look (despite the PITA they are to snap in winter, but unfortunately they aren't made anymore. A Extang Tri-Fold will most likely go on my next truck, unless I can see what a top mount Truxedo looks like in person. Hard covers never did it for me, but can understand people who may store stuff in their bed wanting the extra security they provide.

I have narrowed my search for a folding cover to 3 choices. Gator EFX, Rough Country low profile and the BAK flip MX4. Gator and RC are the same price, nearly identical and both aluminum panels. Gator has 3 year warranty, RC has Lifetime. BAK also has Aluminum panels with a 5 year warranty. Is it worth over $300 more for the BAKflip or are the Gator and RC just as good? If anyone has any one of these let me know what you like or dislike about it. Thanks
I absolutely love my Bakflip MX4. Drove cross country 3 times with periods of deluge rain (in Iowa it seemed like it was raining up from the ground) and got maybe 1/2 cup leakage.

On previous trucks I always went with one piece fiberglass lids, mainly for appearance, but on this truck I opted for the Extang Solid Fold. It's a strong, light weight cover which is very easy to use. Granted, it wont fold against the back window like a couple of the others will but if you need the whole length of the bed, the Extang can be removed in about a minute. What I like best is the ability to use the Multi-Function Tailgate in either mode without raising the lid.

I just bought and installed a Tyger soft roll up tonneau cover. I can't speak to longevity but materials seem to be good quality and install was very easy and instructions good although I did not follow them exactly. I assembled it all, cover rolled out and velcroed to assure alignment. crawled under and all you need is a 10mm flex head ratcheting wrench to tighten at the top bolt head (nut held tight in slot at bottom of clamp). Works great but as temp gets colder there's a bit of shrinkage so need to adjrct the receiving clips at tailgate end, no big deal. Rolls right up out of the way, no snaps, no removing like some tri-folds and velcro is holding tight.

All three are over priced and not sure worth the money. One can find a couple of very good products on Ebay, and other sites, where folding tonneau covers for your truck run between $149 to $199 and are just as good, if not better than the three you state. Have had two American Pride, one on a RAM and one on a new Frontier. They are perfect covers, durable, great quality and you're not paying some 'brand name'. Good luck, don't waste your money/
You got a link? Not having much luck with searching american pride tonneau cover on ebay or Google, and I'm not finding low profile hard covers for much less than the others listed in the OP.

I bought a hard trifold top on walmart, looks like it's the DNA motoring TTC hard, a couple years ago for under $400. Looks like they're under $500 now. I originally bought it for my last ram after my Pace Edwards finally died after about 13 years. I figured it would get me over the hump until I found another cover that would work better. I now have it on my new ram and I've been using it for 5 years and absolutely love it. Keeps the water out, is secure, and still looks fantastic.

I have a Gator (sub-brand of Extang) and love it. It took 2 feet of snow last year in one storm with out a problem. I did make one mod to it. I called and got the quick release handles that are on the back end and installed them in place of the wing nuts on the front end. Now I can remove it from the bed in 30 seconds and have all my bed space.

I only paid like $250 in 2019.
The price has went up to $350

Has them for under $300

It's actually American Tonneau Company and their hard tri-fold version for Rams is in the $550 range. They don't sell direct, so you have to find a distributor and they don't offer a hard roll-up version. I have the BAK X4S but also researched them to see what I was missing. I'd rather go with one that had more than 8 reviews. I'm ok with paying extra for some things.

Almost every single tonneau cover out there uses the patent and design that BAK industries used as they were the original tonneau covers designed and invented by Julian Maimin ..he still holds every single patent for tonneau covers ..

Anyways, any of the tonneau covers out there are going to be made exactly like the BAKflip and Gator which is the Parents of all tonneau covers ...
