Just took delivery on a 2500 Cummins. When driving home from dealership, I heard the three chime warning from the dashboard. It happened randomly twice, and one again the next day. I searched the instrument cluster for a warning light, but could find none. Called the dealer, they want me to bring it in. Question: Is there a user procedure I can employ that will get the computer to show me fault or error codes on the dash?
UPDATE 12/21/21 Upon further review the 3 tone chime I am experiencing is an alert sound, which is controlled in the TomTom navigation system. I can select or de-select the audible alert. There are two basic alerts: One that sounds when certain things like red-light cameras are ahead. The second is a speeding warning alert that sounds whenever the vehicle exceeds posted speed limits by 5MPH or higher. THANK YOU for all those of you who offered help.

If you get a cheap code reader, there might be something stored in the ECU's memory. There used to be a way to turn the key on/off a couple times, pump the gas pedal three times while holding your tongue just right and the code would show on the dash display, but not sure if the new trucks do that or not.

It’s the red light camera warning from the new Uconnect 5 Tom Tom navigation system.

Thanks, JohnnyMac. I do have a code reader and will try using it with my OBD

Thanks Jimmy 7, I know an intersection close by that has red light cameras and that was close to where I was when the chime occurred. Time for a test drive to try and duplicate it. BTW, I originally asked in my thread if there is an in-cab procedure I can use to get a readout of faults/warnings/codes. In Gen 4 RAMs, there was a procedure used which involved toggling the trip reset button and on/acc button. Have you any info about the 2022 using a procedure like that? Thank you!

No. There hasn’t been a procedure like that since 2011. You need an OBD scan tool for that.

Pick a nice scan tool

I thought that i had done my research well

Most of all, i needed a tool that would do all of the Emissions Checks, like reading the 7 main Readiness Monitors

I also wanted it to read Air Bag & ABS faults

That is what i bought & about a month later, i had a friend that needed his ABS System air bled

My tool would not do that :(

My uncle and I both just picked up 1500’s and we both had the same darn chime about 5 minutes into our drives at the same time. Happened 2x now since. Can’t figure it out. Nothing on dash, no messages, no alerts.

Got it. I took it for a test drive, and just like you said, the chime warning went off near the red light camera. It was entered on Tom Tom.

Jimmy 7 pointed out it is an alert based on the Tom Tom navigation in the UConnect 5. Photo Red Light cameras in your area have been located with a special icon on your map. Go to where there is a known photo red light camera. Your Tom Tom will give you a 3 chime warning within 1000 ft of the cam and you will get a message about it on your Uconnect screen. I tested this successfully today. Try it.
