So I decided to go against the popular brand and get a Start-X remote start.

I got the kit for 2018 to 2020 tip start Rams. The install was so easy. It really was plug and play. No splicing at all. I plugged the T harness in and connected the CAN connector to the green CAN terminal. That took 2 minutes. After that I followed the instructions for training the module. After that I programmed it using their website. You have to use IE to program it. Safari, Chrome, Edge, and any other browser won't work. If you have a newer computer and it only has Edge, type IE into the search bar and Internet Explorer will come up. It's in there, they just don't give you a icon for it.

The programming was easy. You sign up at their site and download their program and then follow the instructions for flashing the module on their site. That took maybe 5 minutes.

Finally I plugged the module in again and cycled the key according to their instructions. I hit the lock button 3 times and it started. I tied everything up with tie wraps, put the kick plate back on and I was done. Maybe 20 minutes start to finish.

It couldn't have been easier. I got it from Amazon for $169. The fact that it was total plug and play with no splicing was the deciding factor for me.

Awesome, thanks for the input!

Have been eyeing this for a while now - adding it to my "Merry Christmas to myself" list haha

It will turn on the heated seats and steering wheel if it's cold enough, and will turn the climate control on to wherever you left it. I've had this kit for a couple of years and it works great.

Do you have a link for this remote start? I can’t seem to find one that says works with 2500 with push button start

The remote start I have is for tip start only. Their kits are very specific. Some say push to start, some don't. If you don't see it that either means it's out of stock or they don't make one for your truck. The do make one for 2019 to 2020 5th gen push to start so they may make one for your truck. You would have to contact them to find out. I found mine on Amazon.

This will be the next add-on for me.

It's a good kit. Still no issues. It worked great all through the winter. I don't use it much in the summer.

A big thank you to Loudram for posting about the Start-X remote starter kit. Adding a remote start was on my to-do list, but was pretty much on the back burner due to the expense and what seemed like a complicated mess.

I read a bunch of reviews on Amazon, and it sounds like a good quality product and even simple enough for a mechanically challenged idiot like me. I ordered one today.

I am really glad that I found this forum.

Kit arrived a couple of hours ago. Instructions are a bit confusing and the print on the instructions is so small that I had to make an enlarged copy on my printer. As it turned out though, the installation was much easier than I expected and it works like a charm.

Again, thanks to Loudram and to all the members of this forum for all the information and help they give.

I've been considering getting a remote start kit for a while now, and this seems to be the best option for the price and the fact that no splicing is required. Just ordered from Amazon. We'll see how it goes.

I was looking into getting one of these kits. How long does it keep the truck running for? Would it be as easy as unplugging the harness to remove it?

Update: I installed mine yesterday. Just followed the instructions and it went smoothly. 20-30 minutes and I was done. Tested it out with three presses of lock, it started up (it does take 2 or 3 seconds from the last press to actually start). As far as @ADWarlock20 questions, I read on the instructions or somewhere that it will automatically turn off after 15 minutes if you never get into the vehicle and drive. And yes, it seems to be easy to remove and go back to normal if you want.

The only con (I have not tested it out yet) is I have read from others that if you unlock and open any door other than the drivers, engine shuts off. I will try this later to confirm, but I hope this isn't the case. Every morning I open my rear door first to put my briefcase and work stuff in my back seat, then open the driver door and get into my truck. Hopefully this wont be an issue.

When you hit the unlock button you have around 30 to 45 second to insert the fob and turn it to run otherwise it'll shut off. I may be wrong with the time but it's close to that or less. And yes it does shut off after 15 minutes.

Will confirm: after using it over the last few days, it does seem to do what @Loudram said. When you press lock three times, it will turn on and idle for 15 minutes before shutting off. Once it's on and you press unlock to get in, you have a minute or so to put the key in the ignition and turn it to on before it will turn off. Works great for me so far - for the price and ease of installation I am very happy with this product.

Wife just bought me START-X for early Christmas gift for my 2020 2500 Tradesman. Easy install, $200.00 amazon. Best gift ever. We're in the 20's, 30's out here most of winter and remote start is a life saver :). Highly recommend, any caveman can install.

Head over to Amazon to see if they have a kit for your truck. I didn't see one when I did a quick search which means it may be out of stock. All you do to start the truck is to hit the lock button 3 times and it starts.

I'm assuming as many times as you want. I've never started it more than once. But as soon as you unlock the truck you have about a minute to insert the key, turn it to run, and press the brake pedal before it shuts off.
