2020 Laramie 1500. eTorque, air suspension, technology pack options, located in New England where it's getting cold.

Last winter, my first with the truck, factory Remote Start from the app or from the keyfob was fine. All spring, summer and fall, no problems.

But now the mornings are cold, Remote Start won't kick over when the truck is cold, which is when I want to use it most.

I get a single beep, a flash of the lights, and something in the engine makes a noise - then nothing.

This video shows what happens (it's muted - imagine a beep when the lights flash) - I tried to start it twice here. Same happens with the app.

I've had it into my local garage to check the battery, they say it's fine (pulling 14v). I have not been to a dealership, as they are a bit of a hike for me to get to.

Any ideas?

The remote start requires 2 consecutive pushes on the fob button. Double click the fob button quicker than that. Dont pause between the pushes

I’m pressing it twice when trying. I’ve been using it for a year successfully, I promise I’ve not forgotten how to use it suddenly :) You can also see the red light on the key fob blink twice for each attempt. This is also the same behavior from the Uconnect App.

Make sure you have more than a 1/4 tank of fuel. IT will not start with anything less.

Full (ish) tank, truck has been parked all night. Everything closed, locked, no one in it. Local shop confirmed battery is good. I know it doesn't work if unlocked, under 50 miles of range etc. This is none of those things.

Again, I've been using remote start almost daily for a year - including all last winter, from the app and from the key fob - I'm not doing anything differently than before. It works when the truck has warmed up, it does not work when the truck is cold.

I hear one beep, one flash, and something under the hood makes noises. No second beep, no second flash, no engine start.

Does it start from inside the truck ?

Passive FOB or Smart Key ?

What dash lights are lit ?
If there is a trouble code, Remote will not work
IF you have tried to remote start it 3 times, you have to Start it from in the cab

I've actually not tried to remote start it from inside the truck, but I will. No errors no lights that I see when I start it normally.

Passive FOB / Smart key differences?

Passive FOB fits into the Ignition to function
Smart Key stays in you pocket & you use your finger to start the vehicle

You need to check the battery voltage after it sat all night to see what the static voltage is. Does the truck seem to crank slower when you start it with the key?
Did the shop actually load test the battery or did they just check the charging voltage? I ask this because you stated the 14V. You wouldn't be the first to have a stock battery go bad quicker than expected.

I haven't noticed it starting slower, but good call.

I don't know how / what they tested - and it likely wasn't cold. Certainly not the "winter" cold it is today. Is this something I can test at home? While I don't have a battery tester, the dash does give a read out on the battery voltage.

Charge your battery all night. Disconnect it in the am. Then try the remote start from the fob

It would be best to check with a voltmeter that you could measure the battery voltage first thing and also the first start of the truck.
The dash read out is only a straight 2 digit voltage, it may show 12V but the battery could be just below that. It wouldn't hurt to try in the am to see what the EVIC states.

I'm just going by your little video. I have no idea how you actually do it. Someone posted the screenshot of the requirements needed for the remote start to function properly. If all of those requirements are met then I'd suggest taking it to a dealer for them to diagnose. It could be the vehicles system itself that's bad. Possibly a bad computer. For sh!ts and giggles, bring all of your key fobs out to the truck and disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see what happens after you reconnect it. That will sort of give it a soft reset

Mine may be different, as I get a 14.7v reading

Last night, despite it being cold and not driven all day, remote start worked fine.

This morning, I tried starting from the app and it failed. Only tried it once.
So I went out, unlocked and got in the truck. Touching no pedals or buttons, I tried remote start from the keyfob and the single flash / beep - failure to start happened.

Touched the starter button, fired right up. No errors. Battery climbed up to 14.7v on the dashboard read out.

Next stop is the dealership. How annoying.

This happened to me the other day, when I discovered it didn’t start I checked the “messages “ tab on the evic, I hadn’t realized my low fuel light was on. This was on my Cherokee, should be similar to your Ram

I bet it will start if the outside temp is about 40 degrees and the sun is shining, if it does have the antenna looked at

Battery low, or a door not latched all the way , hood open will cause this.
Low fuel , that is a new one to me. I was down to about 1/8 the other day ,I believe and it worked
I have had to redo the 2 pushes some times as my fob needs cleaning
