If anyone is still having trouble programming the push to start fobs.

1. Choose program high line
2. When it says press the unlock button once after it starts press it more than ounce while it’s programming.

I had to press my unlock button 3 times with about a 4 second delay in between pushes.

Has anyone successfully changed their VIN using AlfaOBD?
what are you trying to do?
I have installed different modules and rewrote the VIN to my "NEW" cluster
almost positive every module has a VIN rewrite option
I have NOT heard any issues with VIN mismatch these are NOT GM vehicles that are "VIN LOCKED" and throw out MANY errors OR refuse to work properly if not "regreened" and re-paired

Long story short. I’m trying to rewrite my VIN that my EZLynk programmer sees.

Back in February I had a 2020 Ram 2500 that was totaled from the severe Texas ice storm. That truck was deleted and tuned from a tuner out of Canada. That company and their files are no longer available, or so I thought.

Fast forward, I’m now in a 2021 Ram 2500. I bought another EZLynk and have since purchased tunes from another tuner. However, I discovered under my same account on EZLynk it shows my previous trucks as well as the previous ECU Files available to those trucks from the tuners I used at that time. It’s pretty neat actually. Those trucks still have access to the entire library of tunes I used from that tuner.

However as with most things not everything is easy. I tried downloading the tunes from my previous tuner/previous truck but EZLynk says those tunes are VIN locked to my previous truck.

Bottom line, I’d still like to have access to my previous tunes so I figured I could use Alfa to write my old VIN onto my new truck.

1) How do I purchase this harness and how does it install?

2) I have an OBDlink MX WiFi model. Will it work as well? This was the unit I used in my F-150 with Forscan, the Ford version of this tool.
I know this was a while ago but I have a 2018 3500 and wondered if the WiFi version worked for all Alpha ODB stuff? I've found a barely used WiFi version for a good price.

There is a VIN write function under the engine module but I don't know anyone one that has tried it before or the repercussions of doing so (may cause issues with other modules). I am sure you would have to change the VIN on all the modules in the truck and that could get messy real quick. If you feel like being a guinea pig I wish you luck and let us know how it works out. Not something I would ever mess with for many reasons.

View attachment 180651 Not sure where to go. I've used AlfaOBD successfully to program the trailer present and lighting for my 2017 Dodge Durango (WD) and I shared this setup on this forum.

I've been trying to program a new FOB for this truck but AlfaOBD keeps saying "Failed. Requested service is not supported by the unit."

I've sent diagnostic files thru the AlfaOBD app service since May but I've received no response. I suspect AlfaOBD is not communicating properly with the Durango (WD) hub.

It will connect to my 2012 Charger for FOB programming.

Any ideas?
Was there ever any resolution to this? I am having the exact same problem. Worked great on my 2018 Power Wagon, but nada on my 2017 Durango.

Im trying to add remote start to my truck. I bought alpha obd. Im trying to do the Read Pin under RF hub. When i click start nothing happens. Am i missing something? Once I get the pin i can reset the rf hub and then hopefully it all works.

What year is your truck? I THINK reading the pin might only work on later model trucks, like 2016+, maybe?

Stopped by the dealer this morning. They gave it to me no questions. Reset the rf hub. Remote start works. Still can’t get the pin to work. I’m using version 2.2.5.0 is that the newest version?

Yes that is the newest version. Google play store shows that update was released the 9th of this month.

I just tried it a few different ways with the same version you have. The only time it seems to work is when the ignition is off, and the cluster and radio screens are off.

Only things I wish AlfaODB supported Apple laptops/portables, I've got both and my Win 10 PC is too far away to string a USB cable across house and out window to truck :)

They said they working on it, but it a waaay offf... :(

And since I'm retired from IT I lost access to my work installl of W10 on Virtual PC so can't load it their either, I could run it in eval mode and just run the script to bypass checking in with Mrs Gate's alimony fund, but that only works for so long..

Was able to get the CSM to show after enabling it Alfa. The neighborhood is quieter now.

Thank you for this. I’ve been annoyed with horn honk on remote start for ever and have the ra2 as well and finally got annoyed enough to look into disabling the horn with remote start outside the factory settings. Will hook up my tablet and go disable it through Alfa next time I’m working on the truck. Never even thought to use AlfaObd for that

if your MAC is "intel" based and NOT M1 based you can use bootcamp and install windows 10 on it dual boot OR run a virtual machine with windows 10 in it
you do NOT NEED to buy a licence for windows 10 and it will keep working with a "watermark" permanently on the desktop and places like SCDKEYS sells licences for like $15
free to use VM software MAC M1 compatible

sorry for taking so long
I would assume the ENGINE and BODY are the 2 that you would NEED to update the VIN on
I have not tried as there is no "need" to when changing modules on the truck
if I had to guess worst thing to happen is SOME system would complain about VIN mismatch and you would need to re do the VIN
I imagine once the tune is loaded you could return the VIN to the one the truck has and the tune would stay in the truck

Thank you, I know all the tricks around running Windows in “evaluation” mode. When our latop users fired up after not connecting to our VLK server I can walk you thru the re-arm process in my sleep. And I’ve run Windows in many iterations on my Mac, from VMware Pro to Fusion to Virtualbox to Patallels to Bootcamp to even straight up installs. But, I will not run in “evaluation” mode for a production unit. Call me AR, but I've been on wrong side of a software licensing dispute once before (thank you ****** Symantec salesman) and won’t do it again.

Sorry for double quote...
