Hey all! Just looking for some opinions about a tonneau cover. I really like the thought of a retractable one that goes into a little box. I have had hard trifold covers and a 3 piece hard cover on my Avalanche. I currently have a Mopar soft roll up cover on it now that leaks and is pretty noisy when the back window is open. So, I want a hard retracting cover. I just wanted to see who has had what good luck with either of these 3 brands so that maybe I can make a decision sometime soon. Thanks in advance!!

I’ve been using a ReTrax PowerPro MX for 4 years now. First had it on my ‘15 Ram 1500. It has been transferred a total of 4 times and is currently on my ‘18 2500.
All 4 trucks had/have the 6 1/2’ Rambox. Never any leaking, except back at the tailgate area. Retrax supplies some thick foam to seal around the tailgate which I install 4 years ago on the 1st truck. It didn’t stay more than a couple of months. I haven’t ever used it since. Not really much of an issue really.
The PowerPro added about $800. IMHO, it’s not really necessary.
Pic is on the ‘15 truck from over 4 years ago

I’ve got a neighbor that has and loves his Retrax and I don’t have anything bad to say about them. I was just trying to gather opinions from people’s experiences and then try and form my own opinion through more research before I make a purchase. It’s probably my top choice right now but I found these 2 other brands and thought I would check them out as well. Thanks for your response! Yours looks great and it’s nice to know they last. I am worried about snow/ice causing issues since I live in Chicago.

I have a roll n lock. Very happy with it and still room under the box to fit stuff like medium rubbermaid totes, def jugs etc.

I had a Retrax Pro on my 1500 5.7 bed for 3 years. Never had a days problem and it never leaked. I had it installed by LINE-x where I bought it so it was installed by someone who knew what they were doing. Just bought a 2500 6.4 bed and so am selling it actually. Buying another Retrax pro as soon as they come back into stock. Never tried a Gatortrax but from what I read they are rebranded Retrax sold direct. Good luck.

Great subject! I've started shopping for a cover also. I love the retractables but with my budget I'll most likely have to go with a folder.

Cant go wrong with either the Roll N Lock or Retrax, both are quality units. We sell a ton of the Retrax covers and our customers love them.

Let us know if we can help. We offer both brands and also offer great pricing on them!

Had a Pace Edwards Rolltop on my Dakota years ago, loved it except in winter. Snow & ice got into the track seams and it would be frozen shut.
Constantly clearing debris from the clogged drain tubes in the box otherwise it would leak.

Things to consider if you're in Chicago winters.

That's a good point. I never thought about that possibility. I'm in SE West Virginia and while we don't get hit as bad as folks up North, we do get a few snow storms and the ice that goes along with it.

I'm looking at a used Gator Recoil. Anyone have any long term feedback...
Snow/Rain is not an issue for me in the desert...

So I bought the used Gator ... It's only kinda in place from when I brought it home.. I want to get some new foam for under the rails... and it needs to be cleaned...
I may dump the plastic bed liner for some Line-X ...

You should look at the BedRug instead of line-x...much nice looking, easy on the knees and adds that extra luxury to your truck. I think the price will be comparable or even cheaper than line-x. Just a thought, look at it before you make a decision. I have a BedRug in my truck, durable, much softer and fits perfectly. You get the option of moving from truck to truck too.

These are all great information as I am looking to cover 2023 Ram 1500. I am debating between Retrax vs truck2go. Retrax is about $400 more. Trying to figure out if the cost difference is worth it. Seems like a lot people seem to favor Retrax.

Not to de-rail the thread, but have you looked into the SyneticUSA retractable cover as well? I just ordered one for my 2018. They have some pretty decent reviews but I don't have personal experience with it (yet). I think my total cost was about $860.
