Been reading through the threads and need some "clarification" on Tow mirrors.

Basically there are (3) components needed:

1. The tow mirrors
2. The door module
3. Correct door control switches.

My question is: Do all Mopar OEM tow mirrors have the ability to become "electric" folding provided the above items are had?

Or do the mirrors come in two varieties where one set can be electrically controlled (Folding) and the others are strictly manual regardless to acquiring the correct modules or not?

Couldn't find the answer out there, so here it's posted.

Thanks in advance :waytogo:

.... and of course having a flash for such.

I think that you will find that there are

Manual Mirrors
Power Tilt Mirrors
Power Folding & Tilt
Then, there is one i have not seen as yet
When you shift to Reverse, the mirror some how pivots down

I do not know if the TOW Mirrors can do the last of those

I looked into this once, the dealer stated that trying to do this with oem parts, module, mirrors and switches never ends properly. The vin when flashing always refers to how it was when built, not with the new and desired up-grade of folding mirrors. I did find that after market items can be bought with all the needed parts and a obd2 reader writer. For myself in Canada, it was a $1700.00 touch to have the added power folding mirrors. I decided against this due to cost, not worth the small option. I am sure their system would work as they state, but a costly venture for such a minimal extra. I can make my mirrors pivot down in reverse by setting it in the radio serttings. I have that feature turned off right now.

I've got the tow mirrors, and switch panel. Understand that an OBD mirror flash can be acquired, but not sure if mechanically the mirrors themselves are capable and have a worm gear to actually fold electrically. Sure, I could take them apart and check, but don't want to do that if there is no need to disassemble.

Trying to avoid getting the correct modules for the doors if it's not going to work anyways.

Manual mirrors have no small gearsets inside to allow for electrically driven movement

Tow mirrors have gearsets and motors to move them

Tow mirrors can be set to pan down in Reverse in certain models. I am not sure if it can be added by a flash or not. Possibly Alpha OBD can add it.

My Truck has manual 'power' tow mirrors. 2021 Rebel
I thought 2021 were power tow mirrors. but they weren't.
Power only means I can adjust them with inside switch
But have to manually fold them.

Dealer, I purchased the truck from said, I could put folding power tow mirrors.
Said I could do it myself or they would, but they had to update computer (alpha could do it)
I forgot the price, but it wasn't that much. just needed mirrors, and driver switch.

Now you have me wondering if my regular power folding mirrors have the gearing to rotate down when in reverse, i'll have to look into the radios Menu
I know that they power fold & power tilt

The tow mirrors I have are electric, as I can adjust the left & right as well as up & down functions. It's whether they are able to be folded electrically?

I know there are 2 different door modules, but can't confirm if there are 2 different types of tow mirrors as well.

so the phrase "power mirrors" can mean, power folding and/or power "mirror" adjustment... I assumed manual meant just they do not fold with the button switch.

looking to update a 2011 to tow mirrors, need to have power adjustment but not power folding. Anyone have these and share a part number?
I assume the door module is still needed, but not the door switch.

I am also looking to add tow mirrors but I have the plain no turn signal but power adjustment mirror on my 2011 Ram Lonestar. Does anyone know if I upgrad to the turn signal mirror is the harness wired in the door already and I just need to plug it to the new mirror or will the turn signal just not work?
Thanks
