Merry Christmas to everyone.

Quick question,…
I currently live in TX, and believe that my best option is to contact Mark Dodge in Louisiana to execute a build. Most dealers here in DFW are at 1K below MSRP. If I’m wrong on this, let me know.

However, what would an anticipated build time be? I’ve heard 12 weeks from one dealer….and 6 months from another. Below is my build. (I might change color….but that’s about it)
Thoughts? Thanks.

In pre covid days

1500 series Rams ran right about 12 weeks
Heavy Duty Rams ran right about 16 weeks

Some destinations do take longer, like Vancouver Island & Nova Scotia to name 2 areas

Ram is busy trying to fill some orders & i am sure that they have failed to tell some people that their order may not be filled unless changes are made. It usually happens with Restricted Paint Colors.
Some colors are not advertised enough & if they don't get 10 orders at a plant, those orders won't go through
That would be 10 orders at a given plant, like 10 at Saltillo, Mexico, or 10 at Warren Michigan, etc.

Some orders may not go through if their order included if say they ordered a Bighorn with things like
Heads up Display
Digital Rear Mirror
360 View
Optional Camera System

nothing is written in stone at this time
a Ship load of microchips could show up at any time

I have a 2022 Longhorn on order, my dealer told me that they have seen retail orders arrive in as little as 4 weeks, but never longer than 12 weeks. My dealer is located in SE Michigan so transport delays are typically not part of the equation.

If you have received an email from RAM with your VIN, then the factory has agreed to build your truck. Now it is a matter of scheduling the build date once the factory has confirmed with all the suppliers that parts will be on the line for the build.

I'm told but have no way of verifying it, my order is being held up because of my RAM Box option. I ordered the split tailgate and the Level 1 option package with the ECO Diesel. I hear (told by a friend that works at Sterling Hts) that sunroofs and RAM boxes are hit and miss but that may well be cleared up by now.

it all depends on your build. A stripper Tradesman may take a month, a full blown Laramie with all the bells and whistles may take more..

Best thing to do is sit back, crack a beer and wait. The dealer can't speed the process up, just have to accept the fact you are at the mercy of the supply chain from the manufacturer of leaf spring nuts to the truck driver dropping it off at the dealer. Only when it's off the truck can you say "GIMME MY F****NG TRUCK!!"

Nice build and great color choice. You'll really like having the rambox and MFT. Extremely useful. You might also want to consider getting the 33 gallon fuel tank.

Based on the options you selected, I'd expect it to take closer to 6 months than 3. The more options you get the bigger the chance that some parts could become scarce. There are also issues with shipping from the factory to the dealership you're buying the truck from.

The Level 1 option package uses many more microchips
Not having microchip availability is what is slowing things down

Hey, I put my order in for a 2022 Rebel GT on Nov 5th... with Mark Dodge... They told me 8-12 weeks, I had a build date of Dec 18th, With Christmas I have not had a chance to find out if my truck made it to shipping or if I'm held up over a chip shortage, but assuming everything went ok, 6 weeks from order to build wasn't bad.

Do your build sheet or window sticker show up yet? That would tell you if it's been built yet or not.

All,
Thanks for the responses.
I just couldn’t wait,…and found a truck with Tamboxes and MF tailgate at a decent price.
It’s a Longhorn, but overall it was decked out fairly well. (Air Suspension as an example)

Now, I’m having issues day #1 with the 12 inch Uconnect 5 screen. Oh well….off to another thread to look into that.

Thanks again for the responses here.

We ordered our 2022 2500 Diesel Laramie on June 28th. Picked up on December 27th. We were told it took so long because we had so many options.

Stu, i ordered my 2022 3500 Cummins on May 13, 2021 in Maine. I was quoted a time frame of 12 to 14 weeks. I received my truck on 12-23-21. I ordered the towing and technology package and i was told by the dealer that it was delayed because RAM did not have the necessary parts for the towing and technology group. Good luck with your build, it's worth the wait.

Seems like some Dealership people are grabbing bull crap out of the air & hoping that customers will believe it.

When you ordered a 2022 Heavy Duty Ram at an early date, like May & June.

Did the salesman that took the order , tell you that they were still building the 2021s & that the first 2022s would begin production on August 9th 2021

To me anyone that received their 2022 Ram HD by December 1, would be right on schedule

in dfw, pre covid, I special ordered 2500, 6.4, 4x4, 8' bed, Longhorn, snow chief package w duel alternators. My order went in on the last day of that cycle. i was not in much of a hurry, already waited 15 years, but dealer put on a rush request. it arrived in 4 weeks.

Now days it depends greatly on chip availability.
