If you can find real gasoline in 30 years.
I know classic car collectors thinning their collections.
If a DEMORAT gets elected in 24 gasoline is going to be DOA.
I see people are embracing electric on here. What are you going to do when the grid goes down??
I know a guy with an electric car. When we were out of power for a week he had to use a gasoline vehicle.
Further, to convert your house to a charging station will run over 10k.
Just look at CA with the rolling blackouts. Good luck!!
Yes, the classic car market is going thru a downtrend... people selling them and buying McMansions.. especially cars with *umm* HEMI engines in them...

I wonder.... if the electrical lead for a EV motor goes in the top, does that make it a HEMI electric motor?

EPA is going after diesel rebuilders, fyi. I was in that loop 10 years ago. EPA is well aware of attempt to get around latest emission regs forever.
Did I say anything about going around emissions? My point was to rebuild instead of buying new.

Yes. The epa considers rebuilding going around emissions. Educate yourself.

When I left the business in 2015, EPA was intending to mandate an upgrade to rebuilt engines. I'm not a lawyer, just an engineer. They've written all sorts of laws and regulations in the years since. Here is the basis for it, goes way back to Tier 4 final in 2010.

Not for me. I live in a very cold climate -20 degrees + in winter time. Don't need to get stranded 20 miles from home cause the batteries ran down. They can keep their electric BS. It won't work in cold climates.

Rebuild instead of buying new....some of the guys on forums trade in when they need to purchase tires. Some...when it is time for an oil change.

Gonna be interesting for the buy another truck crowd. Hahaha

I am interested in knowing how Ram is going to meet the new 40mpg 2026 CAFE requirement for cars and light trucks (1500 series and smaller). Ford can offset their 20 mpg trucks by selling the Lightening and relying on high mpg subcompact cars. GM can also do a similar tactic.

But can Ram as a separate division do that? Ram doesn't have really high fuel mileage small cars and EVs to skew the average. Will the 1500 series trucks be able to reach the standard and still have a decent towing ability?

HD trucks (8600 GVW or more) are exempt. HD trucks however have evolved into trucks with much higher capacities than the bread and butter 1500 series owner needs or wants. I can envision a new "2500 Lite." Basically a 1500 series truck with a GVW of 8601 lbs. The truck would be exempt from the 40 mpg standard yet retain the driveability of a 1500 and a tow rating under 11k. Just a thought...

When Chrysler bought AMC back in 1987 they put an inline 4.0 litre 6 cylinder High Output engine in their Jeep Cherokee line ... I bought one in 1992 and had the vehicle for 6 years without any problems ... It lasted a week in the dealership after I traded it in, and I found out the parents of one of the people I worked with bought it, and it was still going 7 years later, without any problems ... Maybe Stelantis can bring back a spruced up version of the engine ...

To me, the worst design for a hybrid has to be awarded to Ram with E-torque. Using a serpentine belt to spin the motor to propel the truck seems like a half assed attempt by FCA at the time to say "Look at us, we are hybrid too!!"

Just my worthless 2ct opinion, we return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
I wish Ram could buy out FIAT and bring the technology home.

I have the Cummins six and would love a 2-door Cherokee with one. Tough to kill one.

Haven't read all the threads but remember back when I thought the GOV required reduced fuel consumption and set goals for auto makers to cut percentages (early 80's?) i lived thru the 70's fuel shortage. Chrysler was the only manufacturer if I remember right, met the goals albeit with the smaller K cars and such under the leadership of Lee Iacocca. Not sure but he is still my hero for bailing out the company AND paying back federal loans earlier than required.....my two cents.

Before too awfully long.......we will charge our cars "as we drive them"......and the "fuel taxes" you pay now at the pump......will probably be paid from an odometer reading or transponder like you use on toll roads now.
yes Oregon is looking towards this... All the yuppies in Portland driving there EV is killing our road tax dollars. Some cities are adding on extra fee at registration time. They are looking towards mileage base tracking for EV.

The thought of you thinking my comment was from a business perspective is funny.

I make no money off of their business...but seeing cars go down a drag strip is fun.

Maybe you guys have missed all the EV stuff Dodge/ RAM/ JEEP have been doing.

They have not been sitting on thier laurels.

Maybe look up the hellcat electric assist they spent time on with trying to figure out how to beat the TESLA no skill approach to drag racing.

It is hard to launch a DEMON...Tesla...just move your foot and feel the push.

Competition is good. It is goona get a whole lot gooder. Haha

You need to look at it again. It doesn't do quite what you think it does. It's not a power add. It's a power replacement, and a belt does just fine with that with added smoothness. Plus it did add 2MPG to the EPA books. Not quite the bad thing you want it to be.

For me I so enjoy the smokey burnouts, the open headers, the fenders shaking, the ground shaking, the wheel stands and the smell of racing fuel! If you want to call electric vehicles drag racing, my God, how much more boring can it get. Their excitement is .......... Well I couldn't think of one! Drag racing will be dead, that's probably ok with some of you but thank God for when I got to grow up!

I ordered my Challenger in November. Who knows when it will be in. My 21 Laramie has etourque the 6. I am very pleased with it. Great gas and I dont do heavy tow any longer. For 7 k it’s fine but used as a truck suv. However I’ll think about the 24 electric if it get the 500 mile charge as stated. Not buy but lease short term as a try. i did like my volt plug in. It was great with over 60 most times on a charge in the warm months.
great but small. Big thing most new electric owners must educate themselves is that no matter what the miles per charge is remember everything powers off the battery. Winter cold a lot less as well. Buyers that do not educate themselves will be very disappointed. For me the 500 mile charge is a game changer to try out
