Thanks for the add.. I have a 2021 Ram Tradesmen.. Has anyone tried to plug their block heater in? I tried last night, the cord is far to short to even reach the hood, and no possible way to plug in in the wheel well . Has anyone come across this yet? Would love some advice.. TIA

Welcome! Wow, they apparently gave you a very short cord. Mine came attached behind an opening in the front bumper.

Shouldn't the cord be 6 feet long ?

There is a well known company called KAT's
Their Block heaters & parts are sold by brick & mortar stores & online

Replacement Cord for Kat's Heaters Immersion Heaters and Block Heaters - 120V - 6' Long

if you look at the bottom of the Etrailer page
they have different lengths
1 foot, 5 foot, 10 foot

Mine was zip tied to the bumper if you cut it it makes the cord easier to pull out

Like the others have said, find the actual male plug attached at the bumper. It is on the right front side, when sitting in the drivers seat, left side of center if you are looking at the grill. Attach a permanent extension cord to it, they aren't long enough to plug into the wall.

My 1996 and 2021 are setup exactly the same. You can see the cord wrapped on the holder on the winch bumper. Last picture is the extension cord holder, can be mounted to grill, bumper etc. Cost maybe 10 bucks.

I feel I need to give more clarification.. My heater cord is1ft at best.. I do not have any openings in my grill nor my front bumper.. Being a 2021, it has the solid front bumper style like the 2019.. Last night it his a balmy -41C.. Definitely need my block heater.

Question - how long should I leave my heater plugged in (EcoDiesel)? I have a timer set for 2 hours in the AM, and when starting the engine the temp still shows very low.

Should i leave it on longer?

Thanks

I am in alberta too, and have a 2021 Laramie 2500. You are likely doing something wrong but I can't tell what it is from the total lack of pictures and the indaequate description. Truck is still on warranty, take it to dealer and get them to pull the cord out or replace it with one long enough. No one puts a one foot cord on the block heater unless they screwed up.

Plug in time varies by temp. At -5 3 hours is good. At -15 it is going to take 4 hrs and at -40 I leave it on all night, along with the in car heater..

I had already unzipped the cord, which is why I knew how long the actual cord was... I purchased a short cord, attached to my very short cord, and passed it under the insulator under the hood, and no I can plug it in better . Just came on to find out if anyone else was in the same boat . Thanks everyone

Gald you got it fixed. So friggin cold the last few weeks, it would suck not being able to plug in. I would still insist the Dealer supply me with a proper length cord, rahter than having two connections on the one you have now. Have never seen or heard of this issue. Have a 2020 Grande Cherokee with the 5.7 and the 2021 pickup with the 6.4. Both have normal length cords that come out by the front license plate.

Rneck1 here, I've got a 2021 Laramie e torque 4x4. My block heater cord is about 18" long, after looking further I unclipped it from the mount and routed it out the driver side wheel well.

Good Pictures R1. I have to say, that is way past stunningly stupid on FCA's part. Having to pop the hood, deploy the plug and reach in over a dirty tire each time would suck. I think I would run a permanent 25' extension to that plug, zip tie it in place and run it out the front bumper, then put a cord holder on the front grill or Bumper.
