Hi I need your help guys. I have 2015 Ram Laramie Limited and I'm trying to figure out what is causing my air suspension to malfunction?
It's doing many strange things, but mainly it randomly decides to drop down to the bump stops. Sometimes it's just the rear that drops, sometimes just the front, sometimes it's just the drivers side, sometimes it all 4 corners. Often the compressor will start running, even when the truck is level, and keep running or pumping until a pressure relief valve blows, then it shuts off. Sounds similar to a semi brake releasing air. These problems seem to happen more often during the winter months but they do happen in summer as well !!

Now here's were it gets interesting, if I park on a slope or in a pothole on the drivers side, instead of lifting the truck up to level it out it actually drops that side down even lower !! It's like it's reading the suspension backwards ?? On a side note, occasionally the key fob won't lock or unlock the truck and it won't let me start it unless I put the fob against the start button well pushing it to start.

I took it into a local dealership about a year ago to fix these issues and their answer was to install a new Compressor. Well surprise surprise that didn't fix a dame thing, the day I picked it up it did the exact same things. All that did was steal $1,500 from my pocket.

Well after living with this for another year I decided to take it back to see if they could fix it. I again mentioned all the strange things the truck is doing and mentioned that (after doing some research online) I wondered if it was an electrical problem like a bad BCM body control module? I even had them go ahead and order a BCM so it would be on hand when my truck was there. The first week it was there they said they couldn't find an air leak anywhere in the system and suggested that we recharge the system with nitrogen and an additive to help with moisture in the system. I informed them that I've already put in a small amount of air brake antifreeze three times over the past year and that it didn't seem to help at all.
Now, this week, they are telling me that it needs 1 new airbag ? I find this hard to believe since last week they couldn't find a leak in the system ?

So I'm looking for some guidance here, should I let them put in a new bag for $1200 hoping that will fix it? Should I push them to install the BCM ? Or should I take it to another shop for a second opinion ?

Thanks for your help with this..

Chorn, start here and see if this helps.

I would also download alfaobd and start recording the height of each corner sensor on a daily basis to see which one(s) are giving faulty readings and thus causing the system to malfunction
