I'm 59, I pay a Mobil detail guy to come over to my house and detail my automobiles.
You are missing a chance to use critical muscles in your body. I hope you get exercise in other ways!

LOL pay 150.00 to a good detailer and get a life... whats 2 days of your life worth to ya?
Try $950 to $1200 based on which ceramic coat you use. $150 will get your out of shape **** a wash. Also, you think missing out on the exercise is "not having a life". Not to mention enjoying doing it with my young sons. Geez. Think before you speak Hoss.

Since I found Turtle Wax Seal & Shine and their spray ceramic coating it's all I use. Results are pretty good and quick. At this point, I'd rather do other things than detail vehicles for hours.
I did spend two days on my Ram. BUT, once ceramic coating is applied - washes are quick and simple. And I won't worry about it for 5 years.

In FL the sun is brutal. Need to wax minimum 2x a year (3X is better) My truck never gets dirty enough to give more than a wash and vacuum every couple months. IMO no need to polish the livin crap out of it as you will damage the clear if done too often. Down here a little spray and a wipe suffices.

I bot a small electric pressure washer for just that job exclusively. You'll never clean driveways and sidewalks with it but puts out just enough pressure to spray the truck finish w/o damaging it. As a past detailer I can tell you you'll do more damage with a poorly used hi pressure washer than you think!

I find it funny you refer to 52 as old.... The most important thing is enjoying the time you spend with the truck period, no matter how long it takes you, and to care enough about your investment to even pay or teach someone "younger" to do the job and enjoy it.... Passing on knowledge, experience, and wisdom is WHAT us "older" folks are to do...

I'm 52 but unfortunately my shoulders don't let me do more than a handwash anymore. I have to take it to someone if I want the full treatment.

Buy white vehicles and you don't have to wash, polish and wax hardly at all. White does not show dirt as do other colors. I'm also a fan or touch-less wash. Instead of using a cloth to dry the vehicle I use my Stihl blower to blow off the droplets. The more times you use towels, microfiber or other to dry the vehicle, the more scratches you will cause.

Definitely the less you touch the paint, the better to prevent scratches etc :waytogo:

I'm 72 with a 2016 Ram Quad in Belize. I was my Ram every week and wax it every 3 months. As long as the water beads up, I know the wax is holding.

I keep the engine bay clean and make sure oil residue and such is wiped off.

As for getting tired with vacuuming and detailing the inside, well, that can be a chore but I found keeping the cabin filter clean, the dust is limited. I shampoo the upholstery at least 3 times a year.

Just wondering about all the older fellas like myself. I'm almost 52 and I love to keep my Ram looking sharp. I have found as time goes on I am not inclined to do the full wash, claybar, re-wash, dry, polish and then wax in one day. I tend to do the wash, clay bar and re-wash one day. Then put her in the garage and do the polish, buff, wax and buff the next. Anyone with me on this????
I'm 65 and I run mine through the carwash a couple times a year whether it needs it or not!

I am 60 and I enjoy detailing the truck. Usually takes me a couple days depending on how crazy I want to get..! I use meguires high gloss polish and wolfgang paint sealant. I have a 2017 Sport crew cab.
Winters are tough but I get out there and give her a wash once a week. I never been through a car wash with it since I bought it. Neighbors think I’m nuts probably…!
I get into feeding the OCD at times lol. I always get a kick out of looking at her shine ✨

I'm 61, I hand wash mine a couple times a month, dry with a shammy and wax approximately every 3 months. All my vehicles are parked inside a garage, nothing sits outside.

My father before he passed was a car dealer. His philosophy must have grown on me, keep it clean, wax if needed but keep the buffer, clay bar and anything else that can swirl the paint away from the car.

He sold a little over 350 vehicles a year and they always looked fantastic on the lot. I can remember most Saturdays growing up.

Orders were, wash everything on the lot, make em shine, so they go home with someone else. Good hard work, that makes you appreciate the car.

At 69 with 3 drivers, 2 trailer (kings), and a 1979 survivor, I do all the detail myself. They all are kept inside and I try to limit driving them in extreme weather when possible. When one gets dirty, detailing is usually spread over a couple of partial days. IMO painted surfaces should be subjected to as little abrasion and rubbing as possible. As mentioned above wax if needed. :imo:
