My 2019 Ram Hemi 12,000 miles, has a weird vacuum type noise that is actually very close to a whistle.
It only happens when I shut the truck off and immediately. The sound seems to come from the center console under the dash area. It only lasts about 5 seconds. I have not been able to pinpoint it.

Totally stock except for the catch can. Hmm......I have not heard it from under the hood. But, I am not fast enough to get there. LOL

Any ideas??

Thanks.

I had a similar issue. The in cabin filter wasn't seated properly. I reseated it and made sure the cover was on correctly and the noise went away.

Thanks, I have since discovering the noise replaced the filter, coincidentally. Did not fix it.

Although, now that I think about it. It is coming more from the right side of dash...Hmmm

It has something to do with the coolant system and the heater core. Both my 2019 and 2021 have done it. Not sure why its intermittent, but it appears to be "normal"

After two attempts at the STAR bulletin and 5 weeks at two dealers, today I found the issue when Ben I took out the cabin filter and drove op ing and closing the air recirculating door. When closed it whistles, open it does not. This is what the STAR bulletin was supposed to fix. Guess not. Living in FL I would love the door closed but that’s when the noise happens. Looking for another fix.

It’s very common to hear the a/c refrigerant hissing through the expansion valve immediately after engine shutdown, if the a/c was running. It only lasts for a few seconds until pressures equalize. That’s inside the HVAC housing under the dash. Entirely normal.
