I am not sure if you have ever backed up an enclosed snowmobile trailer into a tight spot without tow mirrors but being able to look back out the door makes life a lot easier.
Try backing a 32' enclosed trailer up a 1000' cement pathway with less than 12 inches of clearance on either side. It rained heavily and had to keep it out of the mud.
Your not going to convince me opening the door is better. It boils down what one has been taught or got accustomed to. People don't want to hear they've been doing it wrong when they've "been doing it this way for xx years".

Truck has the regular power-fold mirrors. I do have a set of slip-on tow mirror extensions that I'll use if I'm traveling on the freeway. Lots of time the 32' and 24' enclosed car trailer is towed without the mirror extensions. Never used the extensions on any of the boats I've dunked with the truck.
The 32' trailer gets parked in a slot that has at most 3' on either side, but what makes it tight is I'm unable to back straight in. The truck and trailer is longer than amount of room in front of the parking spot, there's about 3' of trailer still in the spot if I pull straight out. Definitely have to know and trust the laws of physics when parking/pulling that trailer.
