I need a replacement sway bar link (passenger side) and I can't find one anywhere. I don't need a rebuild kit, I need the actual link since mine is bent and the truck won't pass inspection. Any suggestions re: where I can find one?

nope thats not it. I know the part he means, sorry I don't have/
My suggestion is this/ since the sway bar was OPTIONAL on those trucks I'd remove it entirely if only to get thru inspection, while I looked for that link. I'm a member of the Slant 6 Forum, as well and there's a guy there looking for the same thing.

your best bet is a pick / pull salvage yard. there's 2 different versions of the link but they both work. any sway link from 1972 -1993 will work

Here is what LMC truck shows and they have about the best frontend pictures. Take a moment and look.

I welded the neighbours broken swaybar link for his D150.

You can also remove the swaybar completely to pass inspection.

Dodge Trucker what seams to be your Issue. Your not posting anything that helps anyone. If you have had a real issue with a vender, do share. Or wait till you have something of value to share.

I want to thank all of you for responding. I have attached two pictures of the link. It is broken at the bottom so it's not connected to the sway bar. If I remove the sway bar I'll have to take it to a different inspector. That's not much of a problem but I have a long-term relationship with this shop and they're fair. I looked at a rebuild / replacement kit for the sway bar and it, interestingly, it does not include links. Moog and Addco have them. They rotate the attachment point on the bar 90 degrees and use a different method, eliminating the stock link. At least that's how it appears. They sent me a PDF drawing of the replacement and I'll send that later for others who are seeking a fix. I appreciate the suggestion about the buick links, LMC, removal of the bar, and for the different year trucks. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Thanks ++++ I can't use the truck without the inspection. It's in pretty good shape for 89link 1.jpglink 2.jpgtruck.jpg

Have a picture sure clears up all the gray area. You had a few guys really scratching there heads trying to help you out. I think a fix or replacement part will find its way to you very soon.
And that's a very good looking truck you have.

OK I have it figured out. How is by having a Factory Parts manual, the one that is 5 inches thick and a three ring binder. Its really a must have if your going to restore or be serious about these truck/ramchargers.
What most likely has happen, your truck had a swap bar installed later in its life. And is a Sway Bar Kit. The part or parts are called Sway Eliminator. And the Clip type Link your after attaches to the strut arm.
The OEM part numbers are. Item #45- (3637 619) Link
Item #46- (3637 620) Retainer
These are the two parts that are the bracket that attaches to the strut arm and the retainer.
They list new rubber bushing and the washers and nut. But I would buy the other style that is so popular. And mostly 5 times cheaper than the dealer cost.
The OEM Mopar part numbers are the 7 didget numbers, so you can cross ref, to try and find them in the aftermarket. I'm going to give it a try and see if I have any luck.

For anyone interested here is the PDF that includes a diagram of the way the front anti sway bar replacement/rebuild kit works from ADDCO. Moog's looks similar if I can count on the pics I see online. Notice the attachment points on each end eliminate the original link...(unless I'm missing something). Thanks again to all!

Just saw your post now 1970pelle. Thanks very much for helping me. I'd love to able to do this myself and bring it back to the inspector. These parts don't seem to difficult to replace. I'll search around some more based on what you have shared. Again, I really appreciate it.

I think the truck is a keeper and it will be a lot less expensive to keep her going than replacing her.

I see. The link where the bolt at the bottom is attached, is sheared off and the upper bushing is gone. You may have seen that in the photo I sent. The link easily separates from the swaybar. It appears that the "rod" part of the link is fixed to the round "collar" that circles the strut. When I look at the 1972 links they have two ends that are identical. I tried to look in the Dodge official parts site but no luck. In one catalog (parts geek I think) they give the "bar" part another part number but it's not availble from them. What did you think of the ADDCO diagram?

That truck looks incredible. Is that yours? Beautiful! Thanks for your time and attention. I know we'll get this sorted. I really appreciate it.

The parts you have pictured are not correct, there is no pin or bolt. That the bushings would stack onto.
The two pictures I posted of the Left and Right side sway bar outer links. Fit your discription almost to a T. As I said I'm useing a Dodge Dealership Parts Counter , Parts Catalog for the Model Years 1986-1985 Rear Wheel drive full size truck and van. Here are pictures of some of my Mopar manuals, Its a large investment having these factory manuals on hand. But the information inside is priceless when you need it and cannot find it anywhere else. You get the correct part number and if the number has been superseded. Also paint codes, abbreviations of the words in the discriptions and directions on set up and use.
Also any additional items needed to complete the task if needed. Any additional fuilds for operation, and clean up and tear down. So there more than just a parts book.

Seems like a pretty petty thing to base a failed inspection on. Not like the sway bar is broke where it can dig into the pavement or anything.
I have had several of those trucks and some have had a sway bar most have not.
If you simply unbolt it why would that mean going to a different inspector?

And to answer the other guy we go says I don't have anything good to add, do you work for LMC or something? These clowns barely want to acknowledge that there ever is or was something such as a Dodge truck. They go back to 1947 for Ford Chevy and even International Harvester (who has not marketed a pickup truck since 1979 of any sort) but they only service Dodge truck parts from the 1994 redesign and up.
I called LMC and requested a catalog for my then 1983 D250 back in like 2008. I still live in the same place and 14 years later I AM STILL WAITING for it to arrive. And I base my years of trucks they sell parts for on their own words from their own commercials of what year trucks they offer anything for. My son has had an 80, a 90 and a 92 since then along with my 85 and I'll find what I want for our trucks that "don't exist" (according to LMC) but even if they sent me that catalog tomorrow 8m going elsewhere.
I'm basically tired of companies who bend over backwards for GM and Ford but won't lift a finger for us Dodge owners

I have 4 old dodge trucks. I definitely don't think the pic you posted is OEM. not enough rust and dirt. :p

are those restoration pics? seems concourse level of clean
