A 208L dum will get you around 29 oil changes in a 6.4. 261000kms of oil changes with a 9000km OCI. I don’t have room for one nor do I have a propeller type internal drum mixer. I like the idea of it though.
My truck has a 7quart capacity and my drum is 55 gallons.I remember my company used to pay $600 a drum for Chevron oil.

So almost 38 oil changes for the 7 quart capacity, for $600 that sounds great.

Some people have replied that they are more than happy with taking their vehicles to the dealerships for their oil changes. Good for you. But I will NEVER take my truck to the ****terships because of personal experiences. I’m 51, have been doing my own maintenance for the past 20 years, and I will continue doing it for the next 20, God willing. My truck is a 2008, bought it brand new and runs solid. Because I do my own maintenance. Had I been taking my truck to them for service, it would not have lasted this long. Think about it, how is it fiscally possible for dealerships to offer free oil changes? Just my 2 cents. Getting back to the topic at hand, thank you all for giving me great ideas or my next oil change.

Here in Edmonton the city has eco stations they take used oil for free they will also give you free pails to put it in they don’t want you dumping it in the sewers I always do my own services the missus doesn’t want me to do her stuff because she doesn’t want to trouble me lol but when the service plan runs out you know it will be me under her jeep lol

Let the dealership just change the oil and dump oil all over everything and not wipe everything off.Is what happens.Just like changing waterpumps and spilling antifreeze everywhere and not cleaning it off.But hey! They are factory trained techs and know how to make a proper mess.
Not my dealership, they wipe and clean any oil that gets on any part of the undercarriage. If you have an issue make them clean it up , you have to speak up. Once the oil change guy got dirty finger prints on my wife's Grand Cherokee door and a little dirty spot on the carpet which is a light beige color. I pointed it out to the service manager and he apologized for the mess and sent the Grand Cherokee around to their detail department where they cleaned everything to look like new and I was fine with it. No Problem!

Last summer I had my local dealer align frontend. They didnt torgue the lower control arms properly and the alignment shifted badly and my frontend was making popping noises not long afterward.Of course they blamed me.And then sent me offers for future services in the mail. Lol
Hey you gotta make sure they understand that you're the customer. Most all of my dealings have been very good at my dealership but the know me very well, I have bought numerous cars and trucks from them over the last 25 years and use them for service and parts. Over this period of time I've had a couple of times I had to let them know who the customer was and they promptly took care of the issue. I don't mind confrontations and am not one to just tuck tail and leave.

That’s awesome I know that all dealerships are not bad but some are I also working on my truck and oil change is easy I have a synergy steering fix that needs to be greased and the stock drive shaft cv needs to be greased a speedy lube is not going to do that and I wouldn’t trust either of them anyway lol

Local dealers quoted between $170-$210 for an oil change without coupon, $145 was the lowest with. Quick lube place was not too far behind.
What are you driving, a Cummins? If not your dealership is full of crap. The deal I use is through dealership and Ram. You purchase three oil changes for $100.00 the first time, then the next two are no cost because you have already paid up front! This works out to be apx. $33.34 per oil change.

The deal you use is likely a MOPAR PrePaid oil plan, which is not offered outside the USA. https://www.mopar.com/en-us/care/essential-care.html

Mopar Canada does offer a $10 off coupon for a synthetic change though https://www.mopar.com/en-ca/savings/special-offers.html

Used oil = Chainsaw bar oil around here.

That's the added bonus of doing it yourself. You're not the only one. I save all my waste or for a buddy of mine that does forestry and he uses it in all his Stihl saws. Then in the summer he mixes it in his 95 Cummins.

I'm 62 and I've changed oil by myself, on every single vehicle I've owned, for my whole life. At one point we had 5 vehicles (now down to 4), so I'm underneath any one of the vehicles pretty regularly. Here's my feelings/explanation. First, on an expensive purchase like a vehicle, and the importance of good lubrication - especially on the 5.7L Hemi, I'm not really going to leave it to whomever happens to be available on any given visit to the dealership to change my oil and filter. Obviously there are some great mechanics working at the dealerships, and then some not so great. I've seen/heard way too many stories and/or disasters that happened at the dealership while a vehicle is being serviced - and when you drive away, you might think everything is good, until days/weeks/months later. Next, I actually enjoy servicing my vehicles. It's therapeutic for me. I myself am an engineer (in the healthcare industry) and perhaps as a result, I am very picky, maybe OCD, about how my vehicles are serviced. When it comes to oil changes - I like to drain as much as possible of the old oil - so I'll start the oil draining, and come back an hour later - if it's still dripping out, I'll wait another hour. Second, I'm picky about actual oil and filters. I use Redline, since day 1 on most vehicles (certainly the 5.7L Hemi) - and I just can't get the dealer to put that Redline oil in for me. Yes, the Engineers screwed up on "serviceability" when it comes to oil changes, but not really that big of a deal. Many bigger problems in life than figuring out how to changing the oil, and also, many ways to avoid a mess. I'm thinking that maybe when I'm 80, I'll start paying someone to do the oil changes, but definitely, definitely not a dealer ... just been around too long, seen too much. But in the end, to each his (or her) own - whatever works for you and whatever you're comfortable with! Cheers!

But it is not my job to have to remind them how to treat their customers. They either make things good, strive and actually accomplish satisfactory services for customers...or just lose their market share and money.

And if there was a permanent upholstery stain you would have had to take them to court to make them fix it properly

I guess for whatever reason people want to love on and use a dealership....if I support anyone it would be a local small business. Not a large investment company owned,in most cases, dealership that is nothing more than a money mill and are "too big to fail".It doesnt take a factory trained tech to do most maintenance anyway.
