With the low output cummins engine in both, aside from leafs in the rear for the 3500 are there any other mechanical/structural differences between a 2500 and 3500? Bigger brakes? Different frame?

Aisin transmission in the 3500, not in the 2500, depending on year and how it was ordered. Brakes, tires, rims etc are the same. Front spring rate and shocks all around on both depends on whether you ordered the off road package, snowplow package etc. Trailer hitch is a Class 5 on both. I am not sure if the factory 5th wheel set up is the same on both.

Like mentioned, all the same except the leaf springs in the rear. If you order the HO engine you get the Aisin, if not it's still the 68rfe.
