My truck is a 2013 at around 160 000 km (100 000 miles)

I try and balance my maintenance by mileage and time of year, it's cold in Canada so I prefer to work in the summer when I can.

This summer I will be giving my coolant system some love. I have the coolant and I'm going to replace the thermostat and the rad cap.

The ex mechanic in me says this is a really good time to swap out the water pump, but I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble. I haven't heard of a lot of guys having water pump issues on here so I thought I'd ask first.

Thanks in advance.

I noticed mine starting to leak when I put my ATI pulley in around 60k miles or something low like that. If you're messing with your coolant, it's a good time to do it.

Swapped mine out about 2 months ago on my 17 with 90K. Could not figure out where a ticking was in the front of the engine. Changed out several pullies and nothing. Changed the water pump and the bearings were shot.

I changed the water pump on my 11 at about 70k miles. It wasn't leaking but the bearing was making noise

The pump in my '14 (Hemi) developed a leak last summer, dealer replaced it under the extended warrantee.

Replace mine at 115,000km (2015 Hemi), found coolant on the driveway and started to hear a rattle coming from the pump.

2005; changed mine at ~120k miles. Never saw evidence of a leak, but one day the Temp gauge shot up--the radiator was empty! Turns out the water pump gasket failed.

Pulled into work, December 2019, at the end of the day, saw some coolant on the ground. Dropped it off at the mechanic across the street the next day and it was leaking out the bearing. he replaced the water pump, serpentine belt & idler, and coolant for $450. Truck had around 93,000 miles.

That's exactly what my new to me '12 has on it.
I just received a box of goodies from rock Auto today, tune up parts, air filter, cabin filter, 4 oil filters, new Gates green HD belt and a new tensioner.
I originally went there for new hoses and a thermostat (or 2) and actually forgot those.
Gonna have to wait til next payday to order the rest, I'm about to make the 1st payment on it, had to buy a couple of keys (Why do they have to be so damned expensive?) Gonna be $65 to have them programmed tomorrow and cut the "emergency keys". Also have a set of cover craft seat covers coming to protect the truck from myself. So wife says I have to wait.
Next RA buys will be a water pump, hoses, those thermostats (yeah I know I only need 1 at a time) a real trans pan gasket, a couple of real rear end cover gaskets, plus tune up parts for my Durango which the wife drives daily plus at least up til now, it's been my camper hauler as well.
