Has anyone done their own fiberglass subwoofer box for below the seats on a classic ram?
If so, I'm looking to do dual 10" and wanted to know if anyone has done it and can chime in with some words of advice.
Tip, Tricks, Do's and Do nots.
Here in BC, Canada we got snow and -5 to -10 ish so ill wait till spring to do it. just trying to get my ducks in a row.

Thanks for the help!

-10 thats cute... ;)

I got a sweet deal on a FoxBox 10 years ago so never made one for the RAM , but I did just finished this one for the Wifes JK.

just put down tinfoil and mold your base in place , Make your frame out of MDF for the top and fiberglass over it. Also check FB marketplace they show up all the time and end up cheaper than making it.

I used Duplicolor bed liner as its has the smoothest finish.

I love how its mounted to the door nice work.
I've seen the odd one here and there on market place but people are in the $300 range which is just short of new.
Definitely cheaper to make it ~$100.
Foxbox is nice but expensive.

Once you see the price of MDF and fiberglass now you'll buy new. I have over 300$ in material in my Jeep box.

Its not too hard if your somewhat crafty. I made one for my 08 and it fits in my 16 which i still need to install lol
I did a single 12 on passenger rear.

Aluminum foil and tape compartment, make a frame around perimeter, spray a little 3m adhesive down and lay 1st layer of cloth then cover in fg resin.
Next i did a layer of mat cut up in smaller sections laying in place and covering in resin 1 by 1. I did 5 layers, cloth/mat/cloth/mat/mat. After the 2nd layer i was able to remove from truck.

Couple pics b4 i rounded over edges and sanded down, ill have to find pics b4 top was screwed down.

Nice work!

I ended up taking DILLIGAF’s advice and just bought one. Got it off FB marketplace and only cost $150. So I’m happy with it.

Took out my lay flat flooring and brackets today. Installed the subs to the box then decided to wait till a nicer day when I have more time to tackle the wiring.

I thought I saw someone on the forum who did a step by step photo of his work. I’ve always just built amp racks and such in the past, but that’s easy in a car.

Trying to figure out how and where to place amp x2 and cap against that back wall.

Do I frame it out and mount them? I feel like I shouldn’t straight bolt to the cab lol

Not sure on the amps, ive always just mounted them under seats or right to back wall, always tried to use a couple nut and bolts to make it harder to steal if one was to try.
Seems like theres still a good amount of room on the floor even, im gonna try there 1st to mount my one 500w alpine. Only been like 2 years since i bought the amp!

Thanks!

I mounted a board to the steel, right here, and used that as an amp rack. Doesn’t provide a lot of room, but it’s something.

i ended up bolting to the floor. worked out really well actually. and my Cap went on that back wall.
Any idea what that cable is for?

The cable in my pic is the harness that went to the factory sub… I disconnected it, the board is where the sub used to be. where did you bolt to the floor, and how deep did you go? i may need to put my 2nd amp there, but a little sketchy about it, I’m afraid of going through and seeing the ground. Lol

Are used one and a half inch self tapping screws. They do go through the floor into the space under the truck creating a ***** to the exterior. So I sprayed them with bedliner in a can just to seal it up

Hey, when you say a lay of cloth between stranded mat you are talking about fiberglass cloth correct? Which type and weave did you use to get it to lay down in the holes and around the curves and edges? Thank you
