Hello. I was hoping my first post would be something positive like how much I am enjoying my new, beautiful truck. But no. I picked up my 2022 Laramie Hemi-eTorque in November. I immediately noticed the start/stop system did not work. It would say "Not ready" with no other explanation. After waiting a month to get into the dealer, I found out it was built incorrectly at the factory. The truck was given the wrong computer (basically). Now Ram is dragging their feet and my brand new truck is sitting at a dealer going on week 2. This is my 4th Ram and the first time I have had any issues. I am bummed out and regretting the eTorque very much. I figured year three they would have the bugs worked out. I was wrong. To make matters worse, they do not have a loaner car to give me. I am self employed and have no indication on when problem will resolve. Rant over.

I'm not sure a manufacturing defect such as installing the wrong part is equatable to not having the bug worked out.
Maybe. I guess it would be the manufacturing bug worked out as opposed to the truck's bug's worked out. Dude on the line the day mine was built was smoking something.

I should have added that Ram Cares is absolutely worthless. They opened a case, called me the first day and then nothing. I called him today asking about my case, you could tell he was reading a script. Disappointment and frustration is now becoming anger.

I sold my 2012 Ram with 140,000 trouble free miles for this truck. I needed the extra towing and payload for my travel trailer. I would love to have my old truck back right now.

It's actually a much worse problem. There are supposed to be processes in place to prevent the wrong parts from being installed.
I spent 30 plus years as an engineer in the automotive industry and this was always one of the challenges.

Are they cranking them out like that on purpose due to the chip shortage? Ford is, although they are up front about it. I think you can some pittance off MSRP for lack on Fords.

Did you actually want stop/start?

I do. I spend a lot of time in city traffic. Also, I want the truck to work as intended. I don't want to have some unforeseen problem down the road.

Well, if you want it it sucks that it's broken. Why not drive it as is until the new part comes in?

To me this is the equivalent of leaving your truck at the dealer because a window won't roll up and down, then complaining you have nothing to drive and aren't being treated right. Grow up, go get the truck and stay on their ass to get the proper part in. When it arrives take it in a get it fixed. It took the dealer almost 3 months to get a new GPS in on warranty, I sure didn't leave my vehicle there waiting for a non-essential part.

I would do as others suggested, ask that you keep the truck until the correct parts come in to fix the issue. Rental cars are an issue everywhere- I talked with Enterprise about 6 months ago and they said that they only got about half of the vehicles they normally purchase for their fleet due to the shortage of vehicles, so now rentals are booked out far in advance.

The dealer has opened a "STAR" case and being a software issue, the truck has to be checked into the dealer when so the dealer can talk to Ram when they call. Although, they admit they have never seen this and nobody seems to know exactly what to do.

I appreciate the input. It is a software issue. It is not a matter of a part coming in. An electrical engineer from Ram has been assigned. If I were to check the truck out it would start the process with "STAR" all over again. I would love to have the truck until they had a part come in, but that is not reality for this issue.

Well then time for a little serious nut kicking. Truck gone going on two weeks, no loaner available, and they can't get a friggin tech on the line, go talk to the owner of the dealership. Talking to the service manager and writer are getting you nowhere. On top of that, just how long would it take you to get the truck to the dealer when the tech does decide it is convenient to have time to deal with your issue. If they could not give me a date I would be demanding my money back or a replacement truck. They can sell that one when they get it fixed.

I never let someone else's problems become my problem. Covid my butt, after 2 years of this they had better figure out how to provide proper service.

I had that conversation with Ram Cares yesterday. I told them to fix it by the end of the week or want a new truck or my money back. Dude was reading from a script. It sounds like they have never seen this problem and the dealer thinks they know how to fix it, but they do not have the "tools" to do it, only Ram corporate does.

I get the impression the dealer dealing with Ram is like an insurance company. The Dr. knows what the issue is (say a torn ligament) but the insurance company (Ram) is making you do an x-ray (even though that wont show anything) and physical therapy before giving you an MRI and surgery.
