Check your pinout. People mix them up all the time. Look for small embossed numbers at the end of the rows.

Confirmed I have video signal to the radio. It *should* work but I'm still getting the Camera System Unavailable error.

Doubled checked my AlfaOBD settings, and both are correct. I am getting a U112E fault: "Lost Communication with Rear Cargo Camera", which is consistent with it not working, I suppose.

That comm fault is normal and only goes away if using the factory cargo Cam. Do you get the blue screen on the radio? When selecting Cargo Cam?

Thanks for the quick call today. Just to document it here for others adding a front cam on a Classic, Mike clarified that the newer trucks need to be pinned to positions 21 and 22, not 24 and 25.

pinouts for Classic radios.jpg

I'll repin mine tomorrow and will report back hopefully with a photo from my front camera.

Success! ProTip: use an X-acto blade to depin your leads if you need to move them. My smallest jeweler's screwdriver was too big to release the tab in the slot.

To add to this, it's actually radio model Year specific ...
It only applies to 2018+ Panasonic radios (newer SW) for pins 21,22 (&23) for Cargo/Cam2.

If you are using a 2013-17 RAx radio (in any Year truck) the Cargo/Cam2 input is on 24, 25 (&26).

What do you mean by pins 21, 22, (&23)? What is pin 23 used for?

Well, I hooked everything up, pinned to 21 and 22 because of my 2018 Ram 1500 but I get a black screen, no message about not connected ... I did noticed that the pins don't go all the way down and I can't figure out how to get them to go all the way down ..

I will try tomorrow on 24 and 25, but does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I ordered the COOLINT CT-106S Mini 360 and can't figure out the 2 red wires coming from each end of the yellow rca jacks ... do does need to be connected and to what if they do?

I see that the camera has a power and ground cable already , so what are the red cables on the RCA jacks for ?

@stembridge I see you installed the COOLINT camera, how did you connect the 2 red wires coming out of both ends of the yellow RCA jacks ? I hooked mine up yesterday but got no video just a black screen but no error messages nothing ....

IIRC, the red wires are not used, at least I didn't hook them up to anything.

I had a black screen when I first powered everything up, and it turned out that the pins you connect the RCA pigtail to on the radio are different on later model trucks. Once I repinned my pigtail, it worked fine:

Yeah, I saw that so I pinned them on 21 and 22 because I have a 2018 Ram , but I guess it must have an older radio ? lol ... I will try on 24 and 25 in a bit and see if that helps ...

Thanks @stembridge

Another question, what did you use to seat those pins all the way in ? I can't get them to seat all the way in which might not be allowing for a good connection ?

The pins will only seat fully if oriented properly. If yours aren't going in all the way, don't force them! Try rotating them 180° and see if they'll go in all the way. You'll feel them "click" when they seat fully.

I had a bear depinning mine to move them to the correct locations - had to use the tip of an X-acto knife to release them.

EDIT - if you have a small device you can use to display video from an RCA connection, take it out to your truck and plug your camera RCA line into it to confirm the camera is actually sending a video signal. If you don't get a signal from the camera, then you need to chase that rather than the radio pigtail pinouts.

Getting ready to do this mod to use the cargo cam input for a front bumper break over camera when offroading. Is there a way to keep the camera on all the time so I don’t have to constantly turn it back on after 10-15 sec.?

Nope, after a few seconds it turns off just like the rear one does ...
