Do you actually care about 1/4 mile times or is this just a stand in for general acceleration/performance? Traction limits the amount of power you can put down on the 1/4 and getting a hemi with 3.92s and all-season truck tires to hook and actually use all that hemi-goodness isn't going to happen and 1/4 mile times on a prep'd track with drag tires aren't goign to matter outside that environment. On the usable metrics like rolling starts, highway passing, on-ramp bombing raids, etc. it's quick enough to be interesting for sure. I say this as a guy who has owned multiple Corvette/Camaros over the years and currently has a LS3/6M Camaro. I routinely drive my truck at Texas legal speeds and it still has the oomph to pass with authority in an 80-95-80 burst.

If you actually care about being the bestest at the quarter in stock configuration the F-150 Limited with the bigger ecoboost is the market leader. Raptor motor without the Raptor weight, but it's pricey. Like TRX level pricey. GMC's 6.2L is nearly as quick for less money. Note you'll need premium fuel for both of those options.

You are 100% correct but I am 'old school' I have been going to youtube to try to compare different trucks and it's really a buch of guys 'bench racing' They make a $500 modification and tell you 'oh wow THAT is a lot faster!!' yet provide no ET's to back up their 'oh wows'

In the old days time slips provided proof of what you machine does. Not a Chassis dyno figure [bench racing] or seat of the pants 'oh wow' [bench racing.]

Factory HP rating are no less than bench racing.

The 395 HP Hemi gets smoked by a 305 HP 4 cylinder....Huh?

If performance means nothing to you, I'm cool with that but I'd kinda like to know a real performance standard before I lay out $50-60K. Quarter mile times does that for me, a vid on youtube or a HP rating does not.

We as consumers deserve no less and shouldn't accept any less.

The Hemi has been a legend since the 50's. People can knock it all they want! If it don't fit your needs buy something else and move on! Can't change my opinion!
Truck works for BOIRD. May not b the fastest, but 1500 runs well and has a Great Ride. If I wanted to push HP, I would buy an old Chevy with a 350 and build up, LOL. But then that is: IMHO. I say Each to their Own. Buy it, own it, drive it, enjoy it. Not like, get something else. BOY I would luv a TRX but not practical, hee hee.

I frankly can't wait to take mine down our local drag strip, once it finally gets in to the shop for cam/lifter replacement. Just for fun.
I love the hemi even with its issues, I love everything about the truck. If I didn't I'd find something I did like.

I will never understand racing trucks.
PPL come up to me at traffic lights, and want to race my Honda Motor Trike. I just giggle, turn up the jams and motor on. WHY ne one wants to race on a road built for a 60 mph speed, especially on curves, not smart. Now in Europe on Autobahn with sloped curves, and planed roadways, different story. Not a road really built in the US to sustain monster speeds. But hey, yer ride, just do not run me over trying to prove a IMHO silly point.

CAVEAT: I can smoke most of the PPL who want to race my MC, but it is governed at 125 and neva ride that hard cause usually not wearing proper gear ne way to be a human projectile.

If you just want to see numbers Car & Driver is your friend. They provide the actual metrics for each vehicle they test, although you may not get a metric for every configuration. 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile, rolling start, etc.

Example:

2021 Ford F-150 Lariat Powerboost:

60 mph: 5.4 sec
100 mph: 13.7 sec
Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 5.9 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 3.3 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 4.0 sec
1/4 mile: 13.9 sec @ 101 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 107 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 203 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.72 g

I'm with you there. I've raced everything I've ever owned with 4 wheels. I love going to the track, you don't have to worry about blue lights behind you, just having fun!

I agree with everything you said except the chevy and 350. I'd have me an old Mopar muscle car with a big block. But like you said to each their own! LOL

Put on high-rise Edelbrocks and 750 pumpers, sometimes a six pack. But on Chevy, not so much. On the old Monster Hemi's with the cookie can aluminum gaskets, pull off 2 barrel, slap on six pack, easy peasy in those days, especially with the old canned 383's. Just lots of memories now, hee hee.

I race my truck usually every week-end,and it gets more attention at the track then the guys running their Demons do. Most people relate to a truck that they can afford more then they do to a car that they can't afford.A high 11 sec stock looking 4X4 Ram gets a fair bit of attention at most tracks.

Yup, could go fast, but turning and stopping was a bit of a challenge back then!

Oh yea! Most of mine had manual steering, brakes and transmission. Made a man out of you, I loved it! Didn't have to worry about a cam that reduced the vacuum for power brakes. People think I'm crazy but I for one miss those cars and days!

My 67 SuperSport Impala with the ole 4 Bolt 396 was entirely manual. There were no power ne thing, not even winders or brakes. It had a 3 on the tree and a clutch with what I sometimes thought was a 100 lb spring. Yup parallel parking was a chore. But that beast would have run forever if a gear wasn't missed and a piston went Kablooey when it was accelerated over redline, LMAO.

The idea is geat and i dont speak for everyone. My issues with forced induction is added stress. Yes you can engineer for extra stress. When it comes right down to it, most naturally aspirated engines will out live forced induction engines.

I'm a Ram guy at heart. But the 5.7 has lived past it's time. I've owned a 5.7 and have driven the 3.5TT engines. Yes there is added complexity but the 5.7 isn't short of it's own issues that still somehow plague it to this day. The turbo V6 engines are better in almost every other way. They make more torque at significantly lower RPMs. So yes they are faster, but they are better for truck stuff like towing. Ram is late to the game with the rumored inline 6TT engine but I am thrilled it's happening and hope the heavy duty segment finds a forced induction gas engine at some point too.
