So, I ran out of split firewood and needed to get some. Local gent had slab wood for $30 loaded....heck yeah, I borrowed my brothers dump trailer. 14ft high side to go get it. 7 front end loader buckets and it was filled to the top.

The trailer weighs just shy of 4000lbs empty and has a GRVW of 14000lbs. The tongue weight scale is reading a little over 1300lbs. So I would say I had just about max towing on the back for my truck. I was probably over by a bit with my GCVWR. I kept it slow on the back roads and the speed limit on the highway. Boy does it ride nice with the weight back there.

I know I wouldn't have a problem with a light 5th wheel with this truck.

I also ended up replacing the safety chain hooks, break away cable and the tail lights with LED GloLight tail lights by Optronics. Big improvement with that alone.

This is why I moved to pellets, one 40 pnd bag of dug fir pellets keeps my home at 64f for 12 hours, never have to keep loading the fire. I have a fire place next to my pellet stove, I can't even heat the home if I tried, not big enough and puts out no heat.

I have an oil furnace, but my wood furnace is good for 120000btu and can get the house up to temp real good on the coldest days....plus oil isn't cheap right now....and I'm just above a quarter tank of oil and the wife decided the heat need to be on since November....so that's where it is....lol. Seasoned wood smells nice to me...lol

I looked into nice fireplaces like that before settling on the pellet stove, which is only 40k btu. It may be more prudent to deal with that firewood if you are in a chronically cold spot. I literally cant get any temp over 64f with that pellet stove, but it hits 64f and runs that temp all day for 5 bucks a bag. Mind you it never gets down to the teens here, so I don't even know what that pellet stove would do for me in the cold, I imagine I might have to use heat pump with the pellet stove, which is what I do anyhow in cold because my pellet stove cant reach about 20% of the home. We are actually considering getting another pellet stove for the kitchen, lol. We dig it, no electricity needed, it is a USA wisener stove. The weakness of these stoves is it is nothing like one f those 100k btu plus fireplaces that bring you up to 80f in 2 minutes in sub zero weather. We never needed more then a pallet of pellets, which fits in my truck bed, that lasts us the season. And to be honest I don't prefer bucking wood anymore, it just aint fun no more like it used to be.

Yeah, I don't mind cutting wood....as long as it's not too big. Some of the stuff I was getting was huge...had to use the bucket on the Kubota to lift them....that's not fun...the smaller stuff isn't hard to handle though. I can get the small stuff done quickly. Yeah, the wood furnace rocks as far as getting heat going. There's a place in Wisconson or Minnesota that manufactures 99% efficient wood furnace that utilize gasification....no smoke, and literally no ash...but they also run about $6k....If I could afford one of those...
