my wife and I pulled our trailer to several National Parks and Monuments last summer and fall. Everywhere was crazy busy.
only when the weather becom colder in October did the crowding decrease.
Trying to Make reservations to federal sites this year through reservations.gov, there are already lots of premium parks and campgrounds fully booked. Try to get your reservations early.

Hey y'all. 2022 camping season will be here before we know it.

Do y'all think it'll be more of the same in terms of crowds and such? Thoughts?

I usually dewinterize and clean up in April...a few months off now..but will come quick as it always does.
Any trips planned yet? New truck or trailer purchases planned?

Have a good Saturday y'all.

We seasonal camp, moved from a camp on the NY/MA border to a new site in CT. They open April 15th. Plenty of work to do to get the place set up to our liking. Then we ordered a new truck. I'm semi retired, but my wife still works. She's in the medical field and has been working from home since before the pandemic. Vacation depends on the picks of the other 4 people that work in her department. We've picked 1 week and if we can get a second continuous week (doubtful but who knows) we were planning on towing out to Glacier NP. If that doesn't happen then we'll take a week here and there closer to home. All of this is dependent on when the new 3500 arrives though, (I'm hoping last week of February or first week of March. I have a 1/24 build week) so we'll see what happens.

And parts availability is killing everything. Had a fender bender in October and couldn't get the parts until end of January, if I'm lucky. And that's on my 2011 mustang. Newer parts are even harder to find.
I hit a deer November 5th in a 2022 Buick that we got mid August. The hood is only expected to arrive at the shop January 17th now, if I'm lucky.

Yep. Unfortunately not surprising at all. I work in the insurance industry and the wait time on parts is off the charts bad. Never been this bad my entire life. Same with labor/staffing. Either noone wants to work or lots of folks out sick with covid, flu or whatever else. I pray eventually this will pass, but its already going on a year longer than I thought it would. Crazy times. But God is good and has a plan for us. We just need to trust in him and live by faith. I still think better times are on the horizon.

Hey guys and gals. New to RAM, been a two-time Tundra owner, but the wife fell in love with too much trailer! Have ordered a 2022 2500 Tradesman end of Nov, projected shipping date Jan 27. Just hope I get it before our first trip 2nd week April. All the CGs are more expensive now. OUr usual haunts, Camp Hatteras, MBch TRavelPark, etc are all around $90-$100 per night!. Was half that when we got our first RV about 12 years ago. RVs are hard to come by just like trucks and parts are and their prices have been high this past year. COVID did change everything, RVing has become more mainstream and the supply/demand issue has pushed up prices. We now book one year in advance wherever we want to return to for next year. Suggest you do the same if you find a place you really like.

Yes, sadly the days when I went camping with my parents to SPs in the early to mid 80s are long gone. Back then, you could decide on a whim on a Wednesday or Thursday to go camping that weekend. Back then only a handful of sites were reserve able, you could head out, typically always find a good site, drop the trailer, go to the ranger station and pay for the weekend and you were all set.

As you all have said, if you dont book a year out (crazy) then pray for nice weather, your basically screwed. That part of it does seriously make me consider giving it up, plus just how overcrowded it is now.

I have more peace at home in my neighborhood in my backyard than I do at the CG, which kinds of defeats the purpose and makes me question the value of all the work it takes to maintain the equipment.

But again...lol, we still enjoy it so we continue on for now...

We're in FL and have a smallish camper so we fit in most state park sites. Fnding an in land spot hasn't been hard, coastal is a different story. I much prefer the state parks than most private and booking a coastal state park CP has been impossible in some cases. Searching daily we were able to book Anastasia island for June last year. Bahia Honda for March last year, and Easter weekend at Fort Wilderness last year. All filled up within minutes of us making our reservations.

We’re at an over 55 place near The Villages in Florida. One of the nice things about this age group is the number of flags flying. Mine is the Betsy Ross in the foreground. We’ve also become addicted to pickle ball! :)ACB8E388-CBB9-4229-9377-47CA987B4609.jpeg

My wife and I bought a 39' 5th wheel last Oct. and our plan is to go up through Canada to Alaska from May through August.
Unfortunately with all this covid stuff still going Canada may close the border again and we fear we may have to change our plans.

Prices at camp ground have definitely gone up. That’s why I’ve been trying to get state parks here in Mississippi, Arkansas area. Still really good at around 32$ per night

May might just be a little early to head North. Good luck- you wont regret the trip.

Yes, no doubt the covid pandemic really put camping into hyperdrive. Pre covid I noticed things were getting busier at the CGs, but once covid hit and all the news organizations touted camping as a great activity that a family could do safely (I guess they forgot about the bath houses) I knew what was coming and people bought into it.

I think more about boondocking, or more remote CG's with less options, they seem to always have a spot in a pinch. Good travels
