No trips planned quite yet. I really want to book a few places in Florida for a few weeks, but we're hoping to travel as far west as Las Vegas and maybe even California, from Michigan!

We did upgrade to a new tow vehicle. We won't have any trouble with our payload anymore!

May might just be a little early to head North. Good luck- you wont regret the trip.
May is a little early for AK but we're planning to camp and also visit family in Oregon and Idaho and stop anyplace that looks "fishy" so it'll take at least a month or more to actually get to AK. Lots of stuff to see and do in Canada s well.

The highway through BC is nice and we see a lot more wildlife there than Alaska.

We’re at an over 55 place near The Villages in Florida. One of the nice things about this age group is the number of flags flying. Mine is the Betsy Ross in the foreground. We’ve also become addicted to pickle ball! :)View attachment 482451
I can't believe all the "fulltime families" took me 20 years to do this, wish I was 55 so I could escape them...5 more years, hope I make it..lol

In the two short years we have been RVing we have noticed the increase, heck, we are part of it! In our defense though we bought pre-covid. Living in Nevada gives us easy access to BLM land which is my favorite type of camping. It's so easy to get away from everything and enjoy the peace and quiet. The wife prefers full hookups so I must oblige. After doing the Las Vegas party scene for a couple of New Years Eves we pulled up to Utah to enjoy some snow. We were asleep by 10 pm!20211231_094445.jpg

I haven’t read through this entire thread so forgive me if I’m repeating anything….
Screw the campgrounds! Especially these days when the mass exodus of adventure wannabee city folks is overwhelming. What’s the point of getting out if you’re just packed in next to someone else? Look at NFS and BLM land. In most cases you can find a wide area on a dirt road or trailhead or turnaround or dead end and just camp there. Granted, it’s dry camping, so if you aren’t prepared to “rough it” then this might not be for you. But man, the solitude is priceless. I pull my horse trailer out into the wilderness several times a year and set up camp for 3-4 days. Even my parents, with their 44 ft luxury motorhome can find isolated spots. Obviously this is much easier in the western US, but not sure where you live.

The only month we typically don't go camping is December. We boondock 99% of the time (I hate people). We have lots of choices in Az no matter what time of the year. My kids are small so driving too much is out of the question for me.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind people I just don’t want them around me when I am camping the whole point of camping is to get away from everything and everyone take enough food and stuff comfortable bed go to a place where you’re only neighbors are feathered or furry I have a house and I get along with my neighbours I could not drive 2 miles to go to a place where I would not know who my neighbour was going to be let alone a hundred miles or more I don’t care what the scenery is in the one the one picture posted it looks like the closest tree is about 300 feet away not for me

We virtually never camp in campgrounds. We're not anti-social but prefer to get away from people and ride our SXS. We spend a lot of time at a local private ranch where they have primitive camping and lots of SXS trails. We buy annual passes and reserve a spot for one weekend each month that the weather is fit.

Yep. Early booking is always better. If your looking for a East coast tour, I toured from Maine to Key west last year and it was great. 10 Days in the Keys at Bluewater Key resort(below). Pricey there, but we saved on all the other sites. Have fun.

We have reserved a spot on St Georges Island, a state park off the panhandle of Florida for August. Reserved the spot in October 2021 and had limited availability then. We also checked out Salt Springs Florida and another state park called Rodman Campground. St Georges and Rodman are both only Electric/Water. This will be the first time we use our "honey bucket". We are looking forward to the season. Went out to Kemah TX over Thanksgiving to visit kids and grandkids and stayed at Seaside RV resort. We stayed there when it was new 2 years ago and we were the only RV there. I think they have 90+ sites, this time it was probably 75% full.

If you’re staying at the federal place at Salt Springs you’ll enjoy it. We’ve stayed there 3 times, lots of trees and friendly staff. There is no laundry facility though.
The spring water is 72 degrees but try it! It’s cold but refreshing. There are also manatee in the lake to watch. Last winter we used a canoe on the lake and 2 manatee hung around with us for a while. Look close at the pic and you’ll see his right eye :)14190924-C0EC-4F4D-B494-53B578369D15.jpeg

National parks had twice as many visitors in 2020 and twice as many again in 2021 and no reason to think they won't be just as crowded in 2022. Twice as crowded means twice as noisy with so many city folk that can't stand quiet and are unable to listen to natural sounds but need to have their earbuds and a TV both inside and outside their motorhome or trailer.

BLM boondocking is what we prefer to have some peace and quiet and be able to enjoy the wildlife.
