Hello. I was hoping my first post would be something positive like how much I am enjoying my new, beautiful truck. But no. I picked up my 2022 Laramie Hemi-eTorque in November. I immediately noticed the start/stop system did not work. It would say "Not ready" with no other explanation. After waiting a month to get into the dealer, I found out it was built incorrectly at the factory. The truck was given the wrong computer (basically). Now Ram is dragging their feet and my brand new truck is sitting at a dealer going on week 2. This is my 4th Ram and the first time I have had any issues. I am bummed out and regretting the eTorque very much. I figured year three they would have the bugs worked out. I was wrong. To make matters worse, they do not have a loaner car to give me. I am self employed and have no indication on when problem will resolve. Rant over.
etorque is first problem..hope you have no others.

I hope you spoke to someone about paying your truck note while it's in their possession and non driveable.

I too have a 2022 Laramie with the eTorque and equipped with the Start/Stop option. I do use it and can never really tell when it is...or is not kicking in. It's that seamless.

I did however read an article explaining how the start/stop determines when to kick in. It won't work on an uphill incline. It won't work until the engine is sufficiently warmed up which could take a few miles (for the oil to distribute throughout). It won't work consistently if the temperature outside is too low or cabin temp is not yet at designated preference, vehicle speed, safety factors, and a number of other reasons. I figure it will kick in as needed and I won't notice if it doesn't. This video, among many on YouTube does a great job at explaining the necessary conditions for Auto Start/Stop to kick in.

I would be extremely surprised if they indeed installed the "wrong computer". If that were the case you would be having a multitude of problems, engine and electric.

Good news is that in Kalifornia, we have the best Lemon Laws in the country. Keep careful track of the days they have it. Don't leave without paperwork (I got tricked this way once by a Ford dealership). Get an attorney involved if they don't fix it right or if they don't fix it quick.

Knowing your Lemon Laws will help you. I did not get an attorney but FCA did buy the vehicle back. Once it hits x number of days it is time to start the ball rolling. Your experience is why I ALWAYS have a back up truck. Plus it is not very easy to rent a truck and it sure is not cheap to rent one.

Check your lemon laws.
Thats what I was going to say. Go to dealer ask to go to truck so you can get in glove box to retrieve the lemon law brochure. Every state is different but I think they have a limited amount of time to fish it.

I feel your pain. Everything is delayed. I hate that feature to start with. Should be able to turn it off and keep it off. But you can’t. I could have gotten a etorque but opted for regular hemi. Very satisfied so far. I do have the 12 inch screen problem that can’t be fixed. But other then that love it

I had to deal with RamCares when the lifters ate a lobe off the cam, and I am shocked every time I see a complaint about them. They were very easy to deal with and made a very generous offer to fix my truck. I paid a little over $300.00 to have it fixed, and the service manager was very helpful during the whole process, even got the anti-freeze added as part of the power train. A little over 92,000 miles when it happened, but out of the 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty. No problems from the engine since then and currently almost at 148,000 miles. One thing I have done is switched from 5W-20 to 5W-30 Pennzoil full synthetic for high mileage vehicles. I also put a magnetic drain plug in the oil pan so I can check for any metal when I change the oil. No issue yet.

The dealer has opened a "STAR" case and being a software issue, the truck has to be checked into the dealer when so the dealer can talk to Ram when they call. Although, they admit they have never seen this and nobody seems to know exactly what to do.
Good Luck Craig…..
Ram opened a STAR case on my 2013 10 years ago when I started experiencing the well documented issue where not all 4 doors would lock/unlock consistently.
“Waited on the Engineer” to diagnose the problem for I don’t know how long. They changed parts in all the doors, reprogrammed everything, and finally pulled out the entire interior and replaced the main wiring harness for the whole truck !!! None of which fixed my problem.
I did get a very nice Grand Cherokee Limited to drive during the time though. That eased a lot of my pain. Ended up trading that truck after owning it just a few months because they couldn’t fix the problem !!!!

I should have added that Ram Cares is absolutely worthless. They opened a case, called me the first day and then nothing. I called him today asking about my case, you could tell he was reading a script. Disappointment and frustration is now becoming anger.

I sold my 2012 Ram with 140,000 trouble free miles for this truck. I needed the extra towing and payload for my travel trailer. I would love to have my old truck back right now.
Show me any car dealers service department that cares or who knows what they're doing. If you can, it will be the first one I've ever seen in my life, and I'm an old dude. And, if you think they care, they've buffaloed you, too.

You know, I hear this a lot. I don't agree, I have found a fair number of excellent dealers who really do care about their clients. Almost without exception they were single dealers, locally owned, not part of one of the Mega groups that own multiple dealerships and a range of makes, but good dealers still exist. I could go back over the 50 years I have been driving and list off the great dealers but most would say that was the good old days.

Well, bought my latest 2500 from Redwater Dodge, small town local owned dealer 20 minutes from home. The deal they put together was great, $7,000 cheaper than the Big dealers in Edmonton, and treatment since buying it has also been exemplary. Shortly after buying it got a call from the Service manager saying your hitch adapter is in. Said I didn't order a hitch adapter, his reply, should have come with the truck, we noticed it was missing during the PDI so ordered one for you. Pick it up next time you are by.

Took it in for the first change, and had two Key Fobs I bought off Ebay, one OEM, one China knock off, because none were available here in Canada. Wanted a total of 4 FOBs. They spent 3 hours trying to get those to program while it was in for the oil change. Went to pick it up, they said sorry could not get either to work, turns out both were defective. Despite the FOBs not being sold by them they tried their damdest to help. Never charged me a cent. I got a refund on those two FOBs, Redwater Dodge ordered in a couple of OEM ones for me and programed them when they arrived 60 days later. Can't really ask for better treatment than that.

I had that conversation with Ram Cares yesterday. I told them to fix it by the end of the week or want a new truck or my money back.

So it is the end of the week and I bet nothing happened. Ultimatums generally do not work in these situations.

I am with the camp that regardless of what they say while they are waiting to hear back from corporate, go get your truck and drive it in the meantime between them figuring it our or going through another process like lemon lawing the thing.

Mine is a torque but a 21 no problems so far but I have had problems with the unconnect and throttle sensor, and back up camera and rear sensors, after looking online found if you pull the f53 fuse the truck goes back to normal, went to the dealership and the6 didn’t have a fix for it yet

I’ve had no problem with etorque in my 2021 Laramie- it works flawlessly, so I can’t see how it’s a systemic issue like some proclaim. This issue seems to me largely a dealer problem. Talking to some person on the phone who is reading from a script is worthless. Get in front of the owner of the dealership. I am fortunate to live in a small town- and know the owner. I guarantee if I had a similar problem I would be in another truck while mine was sorted out.

Makes me wonder if someone that did not order a Rambox got the one you should have had?
