Evic came out of a 2017 with 14,000 miles on it. Been working great for 8,000 miles, now the screen flickers light to dim when the headlight are off. Tried the loose fuse and connection checks.
Only seems to happen 70 degrees or lower. Any recommendations of someone that can repair this? (not the dealer) Only happens in full brightness. Everything else works great.

Sounds like maybe a cold solder joint. If you are somewhat handy and have a heat gun you can open it up and try to reflow the solder (carefully and not to close/hot).

Pulled it apart. Did not remove the gauge needles, so could only see the back of the board. Everything looks solid. Nothing loose.

I know, sometimes its not evident to the eye (if its even a problem). The temperature thing is what triggered me to say that BUT it's also possible for that to happen at the harness too.

That I don't know but I know someone did a tear down write up. If I can find it I'll post it here.

When the running lights/ headlamps are on does the brightness change and can you adjust the brightness with the potentiometer dial ?

Night time, it adjusts dimmer without problems. Click it to "parade", and it flashes. Daytime... Only bright (and flashing) The original 3.5 cluster works fine.

Sounds like when HID’s aren’t registered with CAN bus
Was the harness compatible ? Maybe see if there is registration conflict between the years ?

Donor vehicle was a 2017 Bighorn
Worked perfect for 8,000 miles.

This member has posted a similar problem and I suggested a possible GPS device attached to the OBD port for power could be creating interference
(not flickering though)

I had a similar issue because of a GPS unit that I had knowledge of but didn’t realize it was tapped at my OBD port for power.
