Does anyone know if Yukon, g2, Mopar, Dana or anyone else is making gears for 2021 yet. I want to go bigger on tires but also want to go 4.88

If it means anything to you. I am on the 4.10s with 40 inch tires. 1900 rpms at 80. 15k miles on the clock. Zero issues so far. Truck still gets up and goes no problem. Might be slightly different at the top of a mountain, but what isn't. I do alot of cruising at 80 and fear the gear change would put my cruising rpm in the mid 2ks. That 8 speed is night and day compared to the old 6 speed.

What set up do you have to clear the 40s. That’s what I want to do

No gear options for the 19+ yet. And I have a buddy with 40s in his new pw and it’s fine. The 8spd with 4.10 are a whole new animal.

Ooooh. I’ve been eying the aev but they’ve been out of stock for months. I’ll look at those. I don’t really mind hacking the truck.
I may just add wheels and go 37s though.

My dream is 40s on 4.88s with procharger.
So basically waiting on gears and procharger to make it for the 21

Utah I believe has the AEV fender flares. They look good on his rig. I went full zombie apocalypse on mine haha. As many 392 hemis are out on the market today, I don't see why there is such a delay in r&d on the superchargers. I have no need to go anywhere faster than anyone else, but I understand the desire.

well you can put 40s on a tacoma and it will still go down the road :anitoof:.
im trying to see how the 8spd still wont hunt the higher gears just the same as the 6spd. engine power hasnt changed. vehicle weight hasnt changed. aerodynamics likely arent worlds better. is the 8spd shifting strategy so much different that it allows more throttle input before it down shifts ? or is your buddy cruising in 7th ?

The tuning on the 8spd is about 1million times better than the 6spd. Yes less input from throttle to make the truck work. The trans is always in the right gear. It doesn’t have that feeling like the 6spd where it’s always 2 gears higher than where it should be.

My perspective may differ being in the Texas flats and not climbing up and down mountains. Cruising at 80 I've been surprised how much I have to get into the pedal to drop a gear.

Aint that the truth. might as well be a 5 speed above 60 with any grade at all. Cannot wait for my 22 to get here.

mechanically ive not got anything bad to say about the 6spd from my experience. never has it acted funky or odd behavior. never a clunky shift. no strange noises. ya some different gear ratios would do it good but even with the current ratios i think it would be worlds better if it could be tuned to not down shift the higher gears at the very slightest throttle

Mine has acted a little odd since i drove it off the lot brand new. While the gear ratios are pretty horrible for the hemi (i guess great for the cummins tho), i can live with that for the most part. I think just some lower gears in the axles would make it a little more acceptable for me. But my main gripe is the “shuddering” issue it has always had. I have read A LOT of threads with people complaining about it. Some do it. Some dont. Mine does, and i want it gone, but i have never read of a real fix for it. It dosnt constantly do it, it kinda comes and goes. Also, it seems to not want to downshift soon enough for me, as in it holds too high of a gear for too long, to the point to where the lugging hemi cant keep the pace going. Then it finally drops down a gear or two where it should have been in the first place.

If i could slip an 8 speed in this thing, or make it drive as good as my half ton with the 8 speed, i think this could be my forever truck.

Does anybody know for sure what changed with the '19+ Power Wagon axles? From the outside they appear the same to the '18 PW axles. Both take the same gaskets as previous axles. I know the other 19+ 2500 trucks got a completely new rear axle.

From what I understand is something inside changed. I can never get 100% verification other than everybody says they won’t fit lol.

yes from the exterior ive not been able to determine any differences either. but looking at parts diagrams one thing i noticed is they changed the outer pinion bearing up front. instead of a larger and smaller bearing it may be two eqaul sized bearings now. that was just a observation from a couple moments of research

From what I can tell the rear has the same differential, pinion bearings, etc as previous years. It has a different ring/pinion and output flange that match other 2500's. I have read that they have a new 32 spline pinion which would make sense with the changes. Looks like Nitro is coming out with a set of rear gears for 19' and newer 2500/3500 Rams (4.30 & 4.88).

Yea nope! Nah! No way!

Ive considered, over and over again, trading it in on a new pw to get the 8 speed. Problem is, this truck is basically paid off, with low miles, and has a lifetime warranty (for whatever that is even worth). Plus i prefer the looks of my pw over the newer ones with black bumpers/grill etc.

I plan on getting some tuning done to mine at some point t. I’ve heard that helps a lot. My buddy just had his 6.4 rebuilt and is doing tranny tuning now. He seems to like the changes that are happening.
