Ticking / Rattling noise after 40k service

Hi,

I have a 2017 cummins that I bought about a year ago with around 33k miles and it's been working well. I've taken it recently to the dealership for the 40k miles service and shortly after that I started noticing a ticking / rattling noise (link). I am unsure if it's related to the service at the dealership or not; they have used the Mopar 68218941AC 15W40 oil.

I appreciate any pointers or ideas on how to find the source of the problem and how to address it.

Sounds good to me, I will try again later noise canceling phones see if any change.

I would check coolant level if they did that, and every level of everything they serviced including engine oil, if you had any questions. Not sure I ever heard of a 40k service, perhaps you can list what they did.

Does the rattling happen when you are parked and gas motor? Or idle? You are sure it is in engine? If so I'd just check the engine oil level, I dont see much there that will cause tick.

I noticed it when the truck was idle. I'll pay attention to see if it happens while I drive too.
I checked the engine oil level, it looks like there's oil above the "safe" marking. Could the problem be that there's too much oil in there?

Too much oil can be very bad on a gasser and I'm guessing in a CTD it can be just as bad, but how much over is it? Are we talking an 1/8" over the fill mark or half way up the dip stick?

@Loudram it may be difficult to see on the picture, the entire plastic part is covered in oil. The oil reaches about 1/4in into the metallic part.

It is only a problem if there is so much oil the crank is sitting in it, I appears you are border line. It wouldn't hurt to loosen bolt and take a qrt out. "IF" the crank is sitting in oil it could cause this in theory. allthough I'd expect the worst sounds just at start up if this was the case.

I had to take the truck to the dealership for an unrelated recall and while I was there I asked them to take out the extra oil. Turns out there was one quart over filled.

Since then I have no longer heard the ticking noise. Thank you everyone for your help!
